Had a great year, made lots of friends and memories and like to think I balanced life pretty well. Could have definitely studied more efficiently in sem 1 and maybe would have pushed my grades off of boundary level but thats ok :)

I feel as though this is a good indication of the cutoff which hopefully will be slightly lower than last year! From what I have seen, everyone posted has a decent UMAT. I got 48th percentile, which is on the low side but for future students, keep working hard! Fingers crossed, thanks everyone :)

Just a reminder to everyone to please:

- Indicate if you have MAPAS or rural
- Use 0.67 and 0.33 multipliers for consistency
- Even if you applied for dent and didn't get an interview, please state this in your post, as it will help us determine the UMAT threshold for dent interview offers

GL everyone! :)

Does rural entry only apply to those under the actual cut off? i.e they draw the line from the x number of students with the highest rank scores (regardless of undergraduate entry catagory be it rural etc.), then they take the allocated number of rural spots under the standard cutoff to fill out their quota. This being said wouldnt there be no such thing as a rural cohort, anyone who gets a rank score above the standard cut is accepted under standard entry then rural entry is added by going down the rest of the list and selecting the number of rural students they need to take? Reasoning for this being it means the medical administration office will get the maximum number of rural students into the course possible, strengthing why it is there as a subcatagory. Perhaps more just to settle any nerves for others worried, is this correct? I'm not rural personally but I hope if this is clarified, the number of rural students under but close to the true cut off would determine how much lower the rural cutoff turns out to be rather then some exceptionally outstanding inderviduals who are above the standard cutoff who won't be taken under rural entry.

All the best everyone, try not to worry about it if you are (easier said then done).

The way it works is that there are 55 rural places in the MBChB, of which 33 are from HSFY and 22 from graduate/alternate category.

The top 33 rural ranking scores receive an offer, regardless of their score. I wish it was as you say, but I emailed the health sciences office and they said their process is as above where the top 33 successful rural applications receive an offer and a line is drawn. So if 33 people who had an 81 rank score applied under rural, then the cutoff would be 81. Even if the general cutoff is lower. So it is possible for the rural cutoff to be higher than the general cutoff.

I wonder why they do it that way...
