    Hi All,

Just wondering what the job of a Dental Prosthetist entails. I was looking at the B. Oral Health in Dental Technology and then the Master of Dental Prosthetics at Griffith.

    1. Do you need to practice as a Dental Technician before you can do the M. Prosthetics?

    2. Are the earnings of a Dental Technician/ Prosthetist comparable to that of a Dentist?

    3. Do Dental Prosthetist's work in a clinical setting or in a lab?

    Cheers!

    Hey mate,

Average earnings of a prosthetist are a lot less than that of a dentist.

Dental prosthetists work in the clinic but many also do their own lab work.

If you enjoy working with and helping elderly people, enjoy/are good with using your hands and don't mind an average salary, then this is a viable career option. Considering that the proportion of old people in australian will continue to rise, I think the demand for prosthetists will also increase.

I've been planning to study dentistry, I'm not sure which school to enroll.
