- April 2008: Applications for the 2008 UMAT can be lodged
- Wednesday the 30th July 2008: The 2008 UMAT held
- September 28 (4:30pm): Timely applications for the bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Queensland to be lodged through QTAC
- Friday 14 December 2007 - Due date for all non-standard applicants to lodge non-timely QTAC applications and change QTAC preferences for guaranteed inclusion in the January offer round.
- Wednesday 2 January 2008 - Due date for all standard applicants to lodge non-timely QTAC applications and change QTAC preferences for guaranteed inclusion in the January offer round.
Prerecquisities:
Year 12 or equivalent;
- English (4, SA)
- Mathematics B (4, SA)
- One subject from Biological Science, Chemistry or Physics (4, SA)
Application Procedure
- Apply for and sit the Undergraduate Medicine and Health Sciences Admission test (UMAT). Applications for the 2008 UMAT can be lodged online at http://umatweb.acer.edu.au/ from April 2008. The 2008 UMAT will be held on Wednesday the 30th July 2008.
- Apply through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) before September 28 for timely applications.
- Respond to first or second-round QTAC offers as neccessary.
Selection procedure
Applicants must meet the academic threshold of an OP 1 (equivalent TER/UAI of 99+)/equivalent GPA. UMAT scores are used as a secondary selector.
"The major round cut-offs (january offer round) for entry into the BDSc program in 2007 were:
(1) Entry rank 99 (OP 1/GPA 5.8 Group I tertiary institution*, GPA 6.5 Group II institution**) with minimum
UMAT score of 170 for a Commonwealth Supported place;
(2) Entry rank 99 (OP 1/GPA 5.8 Group I tertiary institution*, GPA 6.5 Group II institution**) with minimum
UMAT score of 156 for a domestic full-fee-paying place;
(3) Entry rank 99 (OP 1/GPA 6.63 Group I tertiary institution*) for an international full-fee paying place. * Group I institutions (Group of Eight research-intensive universities) include University of Queensland, University of Sydney, University of NSW, Australian National University (ANU), University of Melbourne,
Monash University, University of Adelaide, and University of Western Australia.
** Group II institutions in Queensland include Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Griffith University,
James Cook University, University of Southern Queensland, University of Sunshine Coast, University of Central Queensland, Australian Catholic University. Contact UQ Admissions for details of other Group II institutions. "
2008 Offer information:
- Thursday January 10 (not before 1.00am): QTAC main round of offers (january offer round) released
- Monday 21 January 2008 - Due date to respond to first-round QTAC offers.
- Thursday 31 January 2008 (not before 1.00am) - QTAC second-round offers released.
- Friday 8 February 2008 - Due date to respond to second-round QTAC offers.
