If they keep it the same as last year, then yeah impossible with a 99.00 you need a 99.95. Did you do a LOTE or Specialist maths equivalent? Those bonus points would boost you over the line.

I was advised and per other unis atar conversion that GPA 7 across 1yr FT study is a rank of 99, is that correct? Im a non school leaver applicant... first year biomed courses + degree back in the day. Any advice is much appreciated! Thank you !

If you read the post under the one you quoted earlier you can see they have changed it.

If youre non standard, you wont get Maths and LOTE bonus points, so your only hope is that they change it to reflect what they had in the past.

Just phoned UQ admissions... their advice was that they will be updating the website within next 2 weeks to reflect lowered atar of 99.00 or above so that it is achievable for non school leavers. UCAT lowest aggregate 2021 was 2980. Hope that helps others here feeling anxious like me

Yes the minimum UCAT increased quite a bit but that was also because the percentiles changed from prior years. It might not be as high this year if the percentiles go down or it can increase.

hey:) is this for med or dent?
This applies for both medical and dental schools. It applies also to every undergraduate school as the UCAT percentiles changing influences the score required. [Most likely however the minimum score will be similar to last year, or the year prior]

wait so does this mean that 99 atar is the cut off for this year, and then they compare UCAT scores, or does this only apply for non-schooleavers, or do we not know anything yet?

This^ is how it had always been intended. The phrasing was : Offers are based on Selection Rank first, then UCAT score.

Before last year, Selection Rank in QLD was OP-based i.e. in steps of 1s. Thus all 99+s (including non-schoolleavers) were equal and proceeded to their UCAT scores.
Last year Selection Rank was changed to ATAR-based i.e. steps of 0.05s, unfortunately UQ forgot to change the phrasing so was stuck with awarding offers to the highest of the 99s. All non-SLs missed out since GPA conversion doesn't give them high 99s.

If as said UQ is changing this year back to all 99+s being equal it's only going back to the original intent for both SLs & non-SLs.

Thank god. Feel bad for last year's non-school leavers and the school leavers that didnt do MX2 or LOTE

I think the benchmark has been fairly consistent... phoned them in 2019 and it was in the mid 2900 range

That was what had been advised. But... based on what admissions advised the benchmark for school leavers will be the same as last year. It will mean that school leavers vs non school leavers are assesed differently in terms of ATAR. What i triple clarified verbally only with them at this stage, is that NSL that achieve 99 rank are eligible to be assessed thereon for UCAT competitiveness

I looked more into it and unfortunately I'm suspicious of this promise^.

This UQ webpage > Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) - Future Students - The University of Queensland
already says "an adjusted ATAR of 99.0 (or equivalent) or higher" as a prerequisite.

What matters more is it then says "View how UQ applies the UCAT scores here under the section 'Applicants with the same entry score'." (which simply reveals UCAT for UQ Dent is total of the 5 sections).

See the problem? The key words of UCAT for 'Applicants with the same entry score'.
That means since there will be more raw/adjusted 99.95s than places only the 99.95s get to use their UCAT to differentiate. All below 99.95 get cut out.

Simply put, we DON'T need UQ to change the criteria to ATAR of 99.00 or above, it's already there. What needed is UQ saying the CUTOFF is 99.0 then differentiated on UCAT.

But... based on what admissions advised the benchmark for school leavers will be the same as last year.
That will mean all non-SLs with Rank 99+ will be eligible together with school-leavers only with 99.95, to go into the next cut by UCAT. That would be quite generous to non-SLs, I won't believe until I see it happen.

Yes you can! I received an offer on the 14th Jan with an 88th percentile UCAT and 6.875 GPA of two years non standard from an interstate uni.

UPDATED (June, 2020). Dentistry Entry pathways table created by Dreamer and Cal. Thank you to both of them for their hard work and dedication to the cause! From LMG!

** note: prices quoted are for 2020 entry and are typically indexed to increase slightly each year. While these prices are a good guide, it's also goo to check individual university webpages for updated information for your year of hopeful entry.

Below table now outdated but remains for reference.

Griffith has posted its selection ranks based on GPA for nonstandard entry applicants.
A GPA of 6.95 is equivalent to atar 99.95, not sure if UQ goona do the same?
