UQ UQ Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

UQ would be unlikely to adopt such a policy without prior notice for 2022. They might introduce an interview but for a university it's better to select based on score as it's easier.
Yes, they have to notice way before introducing the interview. But they may adopt interview down the track because they seem using SJT as an interview-liked measure to assess the candidates.

in the pre-commencement guide it says new students have to wear UQ branded scrubs. but they're currently out of stock lol 🙃
yeah i figured that out just after I asked haha 🙃 I emailed the enquiry address and they said that they're getting more stock in and will let everyone know as soon as they get them in :)

I'm in the provisional entry to medicine at UQ and I got this information in an email so that I can select an undergraduate degree. Probably try call up the uni to check, before you change preferences.
wait, isn't the ucat have a max score of 3600? or is it including the SJT sections as well?

Hey, is there a chance of getting a dentistry offer at UQ, GPA: 7.0 FTE, UCAT 2490 (642 SJ), Rural: RA3.
Not sure where I should put UQ in my QTAC preferences.

Would a 3210+569=3779UCAT be enough for UQ dentistry if anyone knows?
Non Rural, School-leaver from QLD
Estimated ATAR: 97-99 (+2 adjustment factors from specialist maths)

(Not trying to show off, legitimately curious since my UCAT score is only 36points above the cut-off)

Confirmed and its because the rest were international students. So its better to think of it as 70% of domestic places went to domestic high school leavers.

What surely that's a mistake? How can it be that UQ trains only 19 domestic dentists a year?? Why is the ratio of domestics: internationals so skewed? I've never seen numbers like that before in my life

Not a mistake, it was 19 Y12s + 9 non-standards = 28.

Can't find QTAC 2022 detail stats yet, only 2021 > https://www.qtac.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Semester_1_2021_Summary.xlsx

Griffith Dent : 2 Qld-Y12 + 116 Others = 118
JCU Dent : ...... 30 Qld-Y12 + 37 Others = 67
UQ Dent : ......... 5 Qld-Y12 + 22 Others = 27
(Note presumably QTAC stats are domestic only and "Others" include non-standards & interstate Y12s)

Been like this for some time now, it is all about the money

Hi I'm a current UQ Dent 1st Year (was a Higher Education Applicant-1 year of WSU Medsci last year)
From my experiences UQ probably values UCAT scores heavily if you're an interstate domestic applicant.
I got in with a very low ATAR (non rural), of course relatively. But had a fairly high GPA (6.5) and decent UCAT (3060).
The above conversation is correct. I have to thank international students for the lower tuition fees and facilities availible.
