    [Undergrad] UTAS Hopefuls for 2017

Hey, current utas student here to clarify a few things for you guys! 1. Over the last two years we have gotten a new dean who has some different views on medicine and the medicine curriculum to the previous ones which may be the cause of the 95 ATAR or the GPA no longer being a hurdle...

[Undergrad] UTAS B Medical Research Medicine Pathway Questions

Hi. I heard a rumour that if you complete the B.MedRes/B.Biotech degree you can go straight into second year provided you have a distinction average. but that is just word of mouth, haven't seen anything in writing about it. have you tried emailing UTAS admin? they might be able to provide you...

    [Undergrad] UTAS non-standard

it should be. I would check with utas but tbh we have done zero chemistry :) it's mainly just to satisfy them :)

    [Undergrad] UTAS non-standard

utas doesn't do rural entry as all of tasmania is classified as rural. the other thing to keep in mind with non-standards is that utas has an entry pathway for people already studying certain courses at utas and a separate pathway for interstate people and people non in one of the specified...

    UMAT 2013 results discussion/advice

hey, with a 96 percentile I reckon you'd be a shot at getting an offer at utas. it's free to apply and no interview so I say you give it a go! nothing to lose :)

    [Undergrad] UTAS non-standard

So basically if you've completed at least one year of uni utas doesn't care what your atar was, they only care that you got a distinction average (70% at utas, so whatever GPA that equates to). once you surpass that GPA (a threshold) they rank everyone according to UMAT so the higher your umat...

[Undergrad] Undergraduate at Newcastle or post-grad elsewhere?

you can also apply at utas provided you have a distinction average or above. it's purely a threshold and once you reach it you are ranked purely on your umat. so whilst you may need a high umat to get in, it's free to apply and there are no interviews. :)

    UMAT layout?

The actual umat is all in one book, they just have big pages between the sections that tell you that you can't move onto the next section. They also have different shapes in the top corners for each section (so the supervisors can easily tell if you're in the wrong section without actually...

[Undergrad] 2013 Medicine Entry Advice Thread

i know that utas definitely accept non-standards like you, they only look at your most recent year of uni but you do need a 6+ GPA (it's totally achievable, i promise. been there done that). after that you just need a competitive umat score, but with a bit of study you can get there too. i was...

the actual hour of the UMAT exam

One other thing to keep in mind is that some test centres don't have enough candidates for two sessions so will only have a 9am test.

How can I do the UMAT really fast?

One good tip for section 2 and 3 is to look at the answers supplied and see if they fit in with the text or pictures supplied. :)

Required Umat to be competitive for Utas Med 2013?

so basically a week down and it really has just been revision and a bit of a discussion of what qualities we think a good doctor possesses. but it's still exciting being in the med science buildings and being taught by some amazing doctors. i'm excited for the weeks to come where we get to learn...

Did you complete the UMAT paper?

I found that I had about 5-10mins spare at the end of each section to check over my answers. Although I have never struggled for time in tests either so maybe it is just the way I process things. :)

Help me to decide how to study for the UMAT!

i found section 2 to be trainable through a prep course, but maybe it just allowed me to reach my full potential. either way i went from 42 in section 2 the first time i sat umat, and then 60 the second time i sat umat.
