Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

The increased 155k limit won't be applied until you enrol in the Masters portion. Prior to that only the lower limit is accessible.

Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

As it currently stands - Placements outside the university clinic happen in the 5th year and run for approx 18-20 weeks. Half the cohort do theirs in the first trimester while the other half do it in the second. Previous outplacements have been in hospitals in Tweed (NSW health), Southport...

It will have been similar in a lot of other subject areas as well. Online, unproctored exams were ripe for cheating if you were that way inclined.

    Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

Im pretty sure all the Australian universities that grade on a 4/4 scale list marks on the transcript and consider anything 80+ to be a HD. So if the friend has marks between 80-85 it's probably worth a call to Griffith or QTAC to confirm what they'll use.

Definitely don't remove it. I got into Griffith dent under the rural entry program and my GPA was slightly lower than yours. I know another rural background student who had a GPA of just over 6, which is well under the theoretical minimum for an offer... So it depends on the year, and nobody...

    Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

Correct, but the amount you can borrow is still the same. I should have said HELP limit though. You can access a total of 155k if you're studying dentistry, and the entire Griffith degree fits within these limits. It won't if you have done any prior study from 2020 onward though.

    Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

The second last year at Griffith is actually only around 50k, the degree fits within HELP limits. The 63k on the website is for a full-time load of Dentistry units, while the second last year is only 6 Dentistry units and 2 research units. Using salary for the first 2 years of working isn't...

    Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

If you're looking at it from an economics point of view, it's absolutely not worth doing a provisional program if it's any longer than 5 years as the lost income will be significantly more than the extra cost for Griffith People should also evaluate whether going to a small university aligns...

    What's dental school like?

Just rock up with what they tell you to mate, it's a university degree, you're not applying for the SAS. First year is easy enough to find your own rhythm. My only suggestion from an academic perspective would be to learn how to use OneNote and keep all your study there. It's awesome to be able...

    Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

Are you eligible for the rural subquota? If so, its probably worth an application to all universities that you meet the prerequisites for as there is always a chance you apply in a lucky year. UQ, for example, had a 40th percentile rural applicant get into Med a few years back.

    Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

I got into Griffith dent a few years ago as a rural applicant with a slightly lower GPA. I applied and was given rural offers in 2 consecutive years (much like yourself I had a life to sort out so wasn't able to accept the first offer). 6.86 is competitive for non rural spots, so Id be quietly...

Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

Yeah, I'm sure dates and process will be clarified in the year of application. This is just a heads up that it will be coming for 2022 admission. I agree, the current system heavily favours single year students and research degree holders, instead of favouring those actually suited to...

Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

From the Griffith dent degree page - Degrees From 2022, admission to the Bachelor of Dental Health Science will be determined by the following three essential components: Performance in the Universities Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT) - subject to final approval Performance in the Multiple Mini...

You'll have better luck enrolling in microbio and biochem as they're not school of dentistry subjects.

Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

You can't do social sciences 1, they make it pretty clear when they state in the course outline 'Students must have successfully completed all preceding year courses to progress to year 2'. Historically, they have allowed first years to enrol in biochem and microbio, but they've changed the...

You will need to be from one of the 11 countries Australia has a reciprocal healthcare agreement with to enrol in Medicare. If you're not from one of those countries you will need your own private insurance.

Yeah, I guess it's possible that it was only due to them being <1FTE each, or perhaps they only combine where it will benefit the applicant.

Griffith Griffith Dentistry: Admissions General Discussion

It's what I was verbally told by QTAC and had confirmed when I got an offer for Griffith dent from 2 semesters of 2 seperate courses at UQ. But that's not to say they won't use individual course results from the same uni as well. QTAC does calculate ranks using different methods and then uses...

They don't combine scores achieved at seperate universities. They do combine results from 2 different courses from the same institution.

If you're a domestic student you enrol and pay for first trimester only, not the full year. Enrolment for 2nd trimester will open later in the year.
