Wait whats with the absurdly low UMAT requirements for an interview??

UMAT ONLY counts for 15% of the final offer. To be eligible for an interview you need a minimum of 6 for GPA. You pass their threshold for GPA over the last two years to get an Interview offer.

I'm seeing a lot of "safe range of GPA to get in" posts around here but how reliable are they? Seems to me there have been a few exceptions.

Because the GPA component is not the sole component, there will always be exceptions, and there can never really be any reliable safe range for GPA. Anecdotally, my friends say that the interview scores are often similar between individuals, BUT this is probably because those individuals do put in quite some work into their interviews, and there are exceptions to that too.

I would say just prepare for your interviews as much as you can, as it's the last thing you can put your effort into :). Good luck!

EtA: The higher the GPA, the better.

Hi,

With the limited amount of data we have, I wouldn't rely on it too much. I have already mentioned it earlier, it comes with a relatively large variance. I would say around 8 (or above) is a safe range but I wouldn't try to analyse it further. It makes things harder because we don't really know how some of these people did in the interview (and/or UMAT).

By the way, don't mix the GPA's between the first year students and the graduate students.

Also, please refrain from using this thread for other than posting results. We have places for discussions and such elsewhere.
