BAD NEWS JCU dent for NON SCHOOL LEAVERS

I spoke to JCU admissions 1 week ago, here is their verdict:

1. There are 60 places being offered for JCU dentistry, 4 or 5 of those places will be for NON SCHOOL LEAVERS.

2. There have been A LOT of non school leavers applying, so the cut off GPA will be around 5.75

Not bad for Ayres Rock uni :D

Good luck guys

I know i'll surely need it

The UAI needed depends on damand and supply. Since it's a new course, any answer to your question would be pure speculation. However, looking at La Trobe last year, expect first round cut-offs to be somewhere in the 99s and then maybe high 96s for second and subsequent rounds.

Like I said, it's all just a guess. ;)

Hmm, will they be running offer like they do for the MBBS course?
Because you might not have to wait too long, Toothfairy! =D
(They do offers before the "official" ones)

Good luck!
I think you'll have a great chance!
I'm hoping for one of the 55 or 56 places left!

Such pittance for non-yr 12 - typical of JCU.

What did you expect? It's dentistry + no UMAT + no interview.
I'm surprised the GPA cut-off was not higher like 6.3 or something.

I thought the lowest was 97.15? The other low-rankers were reportedly from Bendigo & received preference.

Dam is this still the case?
I got a GPA of 6.25 for first semester Bachelor of Oral Health and really want JCU! With respect to the application supporting letters I have a Dentist + my old school (full wrote a letter when i finished last year) + possible other dentist writing letters are these sufficient or what are they are more looking for?
