How To Become A Moderator ?

Haha...i guess the title says enough ?

Its always been something that has intrigued me :p

And this forum lacks jcu reps. Ive only seen moody -and i suppose u can count season as well because she knows alot about jcu (and helped me out a fair bit =)), but besides them this place has no jcu med students to help out.

A shame really because jcu is a fantastic med school and townsville is soo cool. :)

Mods are promoted on an ad-hoc basis. If there is a perceived shortage of mods, a user who has contributed extraordinarily to the community (especially the wiki), or in most cases a mixture of the two, we make a new mod!

hmm i never really thought about this i guess i always thought the mods never became mods they just always were and will be forever?? lol but seriosuly i dont know.

Are you from townsville too? She's not an active poster i dont think but the member "Fly" has been pretty helpful to me on JCU issues she is a student there i guess if you had any questions you could try PMing her.

We clear up posts that break the rules, try to keep discussion productive and constructive (rather than letting it break out into personal arguments), we help with the development and improvement of the site, and yes, we try to provide advice based on our experience.

So whas the difference betwee a moderator, member and super moderator ?
Haha i must be super annoying :p

Well i can say you guys are doing a great job !!! :D
This site has given hope and motivation in a wierd sort of way...although, it can be abit addictive at times...try work on that ;)

"If" i get into jcu i promise that i shall assist all those mso'ers who want to know more about the uni..even the wiki page is quiet vague. P.S thats a big massive "if" :(

Matt was also really helpful with my uws related questions....maybe you should have like moderator of the year awards hehe =)

All moderators, super or not, have the same role of enforcing rules and helping out as outlined by Hayden above. Super or not... it's the same thing, some people have just changed their titles. In fact there are some mods without the moderator title, like L337 and Shinigami.

Going by a standard vbulletin installation a moderator can only moderate (edit/delete/move/merge/split) posts and threads in a certain board, for instance the general discussion board. A super moderator can moderate all boards.

Oh and a member (<50 posts) doesn't have access to the chatbox or member photo gallery unlike 'regular members'.

And wooz, if moderators are goderators what are administrators? :)

I'm pretty sure moderators are chosen on a need basis... more people = an exalted member is chosen...

buh buh buhhhh...

honestly i don't know why not more people from jcu stick around... I remember of last year there were at least 7 or so people who did get in...

Speaking of which... offers for jcu should be coming out in the next week or so... so keep your phones turned on... lol and don't be like me who literally laughed at the guy who told me that I'd gotten in... ahh... what not to do.

It is a long and arduous process *melodramatic sigh*. Although I do semi-legitimately want to know what exactly is an admin
Admin's can change programming on the site + everything basically. Moderators can ban people, delete post counts, modify posts.

Please don't bump old threads. Post constructively, even if that means not posting much per day. This is an official warning.
