yeahtheboys You have pretty strong chances (easily > 75%), which means that unless you really bombed out your interview, you should find yourself with a second round bonded at the very minimum. Though I'd say that with an average to above average interview performance (about 60~70%ile), you've likely easily secured a first round offer.

That's quite a misinformed view of the process. The number of interview invites for the interstate round doesn't depend on how many remaining seats, it depends on how many have ATAR+UMAT combos above the same cutoff used for 1st & 2nd round interviews.

A1 Does this mean that theoretically you could have like 500 people being interviewed (all being above the ATAR+UMAT cutoff) for only 10 seats?

Given the fact that UNSW had processed instate+interstate applicants all together and informed interstate applicants of their "provisional" interview invites, UNSW knows the ratio of NSW vs interstate interviewees and apportions 1st round vs 2nd round place offers accordingly. Your assumption of only 10 seats for 2nd round is unfounded.

A1 told me this last time
"It's difficult to predict for Adelaide because of three factors - (1) many get the generous SATAC bonus to equal/surpass your 99.6, (2) UMAT counts only half as much as the interview, (3) the 1-in-7 ratio makes it small chance even for those with higher chances. Relative to UNSW/Monash it rests so much more on the interview there's not much point in predicting."
I know someone from my school last year who got 99.95 and 98 UMAT didn't get an offer from Adelaide so it's heavily dependant on your interview but 99.55 and 88%ile seems like an ok chance for a place unless you said something you shouldn't have in your interview"

It's not really meaningful to estimate a chance now since you've done the interview and the result depends substantially on that. All I can say is, relative to the other unis everyone has much lower chance at Adelaide because of bonus-inflated ATARs there and the smaller place/interviewee ratio.

Can you explain how the bonus inflated ATARs work for Adelaide? I thought bonus ATAR points were just for equity reason?

The subjects bonus doesn't apply to medicine, the school-based bonus does. SATAC has a long list of SA schools that qualify for and what matters more is the size of the bonus - it makes a lot of 97.0+ students equal or better than your 99.55

Adelaide's intake is known to be around 120, the Adelaide 2018 guide says they interview about 800.

Source for 120 please? Last I read back in 2007 they had 144, and then they increased their medical school size substantially by more than 100, leading to around 200 now (this information is all sourced from actual news articles).

The increase by more than 100 could be in reference to the addition of Flinders.

A1 The increase of a 100 spots definitely wasn't in reference to Flinders. However, your data is definitely compelling so I guess I'm to stick with the 120~140 estimate for now.

In that case, I’d imagine you would be in the running for an interview. We have had someone with GPA 6.1, UMAT 91st%ile get one. The only issue might be if GPA requirement = 6.00 cut off. Is yours exactly 6? Could it be slightly below? <— this is just trouble-shooting by the way.
