Hiya everyone!

Here's an update on the UMelb requirements:
For 2005 the enter ranges for the three streams under MBBS were:

MBBS ENTER WUMAT

Enter Stream 99.90 to 99.95 Min 182
UMAT Stream 96.35 to 99.95 Min 285
ENTER/UMAT Stream 99.65 to 99.85 Min 237

MBBS (full fee)

Enter Stream 99.90 to 99.95 Min 186
UMAT Stream 96.05 to 99.95 Min 253
ENTER/UMAT Stream 99.70 to 99.85 Min 230

MBBS (CSP Bonded)
Enter Stream 99.85 to 99.95 Min 196
UMAT Stream 96.60 to 99.95 Min 259E
NTER/UMAT Stream 99.25 to 99.80 Min 221

MBBS/BA
Enter Stream 99.90 to 99.95 Min 182
UMAT Stream 96.60 to 99.95 Min 286
ENTER/UMAT Stream 99.75 to 99.85 Min 247
Compared to:
ENTER & Weighted UMAT ranges for 2006 entry (a guide only)

MBBS/BMedSc (CSP)
ENTER stream 99.90 to 99.95 Min 193
UMAT stream 99.10 to 99.95 Min 283
ENTER/UMAT stream 99.75 to 99.85 Min 249

MBBS/BMedSc (CSP BMP)
ENTER stream 99.85 to 99.95 Min 202
UMAT stream 96.15 to 99.95 Min 257
ENTER/UMAT stream 99.45 to 99.80 Min 227

MBBS/BMedSc (Aust full fee)
ENTER stream 99.75 to 99.95 Min 179
UMAT stream 96.25 to 99.95 Min 246
ENTER/UMAT stream 99.35 to 99.70 Min 227

Anyone noticed the UMAT stream for CSP jumped from 96.35 to 99.10? :O :O :O Did competition just get friggen huge? As i doubt it would be a typo?

What can Year 12 of 2007's be expecting for entry into 2008?

lol bacon relax, they haven't even done the 2007 entry requirements let alone 2008. Just wait and see 2007 and you can probably draw extrapolations about the nature of the pattern although they are highly approximate in nature and if i were you i wouldn't be worrying about it yet.

Hilarious? I know someone who got 99.7 with weighted UMAT of 312. Hilarious, i think not. Extraordinarily brilliant, yes.

I'm pretty sure the UMAT stream is just the top X candidates with the highest weighted scores and an ENTER of 96 (the minimum cut-off). It's just that last year 99.10 was the lowest enter of anyone who got in via the UMAT stream. So in other words, if you had an enter of 96 but a higher UMAT, you would get in ahead of the dude with 99.10.

2008 is the first year of the "growing esteem" program at melb uni, where med is done after a 3 year undergrad degree in bioscience (ie. postgrad only). I'm not sure if the old undergrad med course will continue as they phase the new system in?

are you serious?

i read somewhere that aus. wants to copy the american uni system of having an undergrad degree in BS (that's not a typo, i really do think their generic degrees are useless) and then specialising in whatever u want to afterwards, via postgrad studies and/or on the job training.

According to our medical students society, the undergrad entry, if it is to be phased out, will only become so after 2011.

The standardised study scores are taken for each of the three sections for all who took UMAT in that year. In calculating the weighted UMAT score, Section 1 is given a double weighting and Sections 2 and 3 are given single weightings. The results are then ranked in numerical order of this overall weighted UMAT. The 20th percentile is then calculated from the bottom of this ranked list.

MBBS/BMedSc (CSP)

ENTER 99.90 to 99.95 Min 190

ENTER 99.75 to 99.95 Min 190

Is it me or are the unbonded CSP requirements ludicrously high? UMAT stream 325 UMAT with minimum 98.55 ENTER???

Even the combined stream has 287 WUMAT + 99.85 ENTER this is just scary

are the jump in the cut offs due to places being shuttled out to ERC?
