Bond Bond Medicine: Non-standard Entry

I completed 2 years of a degree with not the best GPA, then transferred and received 1 year of subject credits to a different degree. I have done 1 year of this degree making up 2 years worth of study which means I'd finish end of next year. My GPA has been quite high for this degree. How will Bond calculate my GPA?

Around what GPA is needed to get into Bond after 2 years of study?

Previously applicants needed 5.9-6.0 to get an interview. Now iirc it's around 5.7-5.8 to get invited to do the psychometric test, but then your test result needs to be in the top half to get an interview.

Hi,
Does anyone know what is the gpa required to be competitive at bond for the psychometric testing?
Also what are peoples thoughts on student from bond being disadvantaged when applying for internships and future specialisation post degree?

Thanks

It’s usually in the 5.7-6 range. Bond students aren’t guaranteed an internship but there is yet to be a student that hasn’t got one. After internship there aren’t any other disadvantages other than the large debt that studying at Bond gives many students.

Generally there has been an increase in medical places without an increase in internships (The Internship crisis) so I don’t think this will continue

In NZ last year there were more graduates than internship and the government quickly scrambled a few new internships to miss out. I would suspect this will happen for a few years until any domestic grad miss out. I guess you could say there would be writing on the wall.

One would think that domestic grads missing out on a place would be a political bruh moment. Also I would think unis like bond, Macquarie or UNDA would be lobbying for (and potentially co sponsoring) their FFP students to get an internship due to the lucrative nature of FFP Med Spots

Yeah not too sure what do because medicine is my passion but grad entry is so competitive, if i was lucky enough to get an offer bond wouldnt know whether to accept or not. I was actually kind of hoping to get into Macquarie, think its about 100k less than bond fees, but yeah still pretty competitive

you can still apply to JMP, WSU, JCU, and Curtin as well as bond. Have you registered to sit the UCAT?

Yes, the Macquarie fees are ~250k while Bond is currently at about 400k - both increasing in costs with each year that goes by. I’d advise that if you have any chance with graduate entry, that you aim for literally any other school before Macquarie. Your GPA is competitive so it’ll just come down to GAMSAT and/or portfolio quality now to land yourself an interview.

Yeah gamsat is just the worry though :(, and not sure about gpa anymore because they are now opting out to not include this year in gpa calculations for post-grad med

Hey guys, If you've only done 2 years of study (and haven't completed your degree), does bond look at your ATAR? or does only your GPA matter?

This information is easily accessible on their website!

Undergraduate program (completed greater than or equal to 1.5 years full-time equivalent)GPA for incomplete undergraduate program only.
You must apply as an undergraduate applicant.

Hi.
If you've completed 2 years in a 3 year degree do they compare your GPA to other applicants with uni study or do they convert GPA to a selection rank/ATAR?
I emailed them about this and they said you would apply as undergraduate but GPA will be assessed as graduate applicant so am confused.
Thanks.

It shouldn't matter either way if your GPA is above 5.5 as that would convert to an ATAR of 97+ (which is enough). What's your GPA right now?

My GPA is 5.0 but should improve to 5.3-5.5 by the end of the year
I was told is GPA will be compared directly like for graduates so I was confused

When does applications for undergraduate medicine open
I think undergrad med applications are opened. You just have to refer to their individual websites. I go by deadlines so have everything ready by early September good to go by late September. As LMG posted, search online. Personally, I don't do anything until I get my UCAT scores.

You actually can’t add Bond to your preferences till significantly later than most other courses via QTAC - it won’t be able to be added to preferences for quite some time.
