SACE Aggregate Scores

Hi Guys,

Just to everyone who has completed year 12 English Communications SACE, what score out of 20 would I be looking at if I consistently achieved A's.

Thank you

Hey there,
It's quite hard to predict Stage 2 English (previously called Stage 2 English Communications) results imo. If your teacher marks your work properly (accurate to SACE standards), then moderation shouldn't affect you too much. I did Stage 2 English in 2017 to keep interstate university options open. I achieved A+'s for all of my school assessments (creative component was moderated down to an A) and an A for my external assessment. I ended up with an 18.5/20.

All good! Just focus on doing your best because scaling and moderation can be really unpredictable. But based on my A+, A, A=18.5, straight A's should definitely give you a 18+ out of 20. But who knows it might different for your year. Best of luck!

I am a yr11 student in Adl doing SACE making my subject selections for next yr

Mu current subjects are
- stage 1 eng
- stage 1 math methods
- stage 1 math spec
- stage 2 rp
- stage 2 nutrition

Subjects that i plan to take next yr includes
- uni adl head start (intro to forensic science and intro to mathematical economics)
- stage 2 bio
- stage 2 math method
- stage 2 math spec
- stage 2 eng
AND
- I will also take a VET course: cert III in business (this will be online)

I am in a situation where I have to drop a subject next year as I am doing too many and honestly, I really want to drop english as I do not enjoy it at all and I am not planning to include eng towards my atar as I know I am not going to get a good grade. I am aiming to get into med in either flinders uni or uni adl but if I dont get accepted, I have to consider interstate options that generally require eng as a prerequisite. Do you think I should do eng or just drop it? If english is not dropped, I need to drop spec.

Also, do you know the scaling for nutrition?
I have heard from a lot of people that it gets scaled down badly.

Thank you so much! :)

Hey there! English is definitely important if you want to keep the interstate med options open. I was lucky enough to be in the position where my English results did not affect my ATAR (since I had already completed two year 12 subjects in year 11). By the looks of it, you're doing RP and year 12 nutrition as a year 11. Assuming you do do well in these subjects then you would only need to do well in 60 more SACE credits (i.e. 3 x 20 credit subjects). Having done both Specialist Mathematics and Mathematical Studies (now called Methods), I know that both scale really well. I'm not too sure about nutrition since it wasn't offered at my school.

You said yourself that if you don't get into Flinders or Adelaide then you would consider interstate options. Based on this, it would be important for you to do English. If you're goal were just Flinders and Adelaide med then I would definitely pick the subject you enjoy more.

Thank you for your respond :)
I really hope my nutrition turns out well!!
