is this a thread for dissapointment as well?? :( I got an overall Umat score of 166 (77%). That's not enough for anywhere is it? I'm a non-standard applicant so my GPA is 6.75 and i got an OP2. But still. Dam that UMAT!!!

Any idea if this is good enough for UQ, UTas or UMelb  (ones without interviews) for a person from Melb?

Your UMAT is really good :)... if you don't get into med next year, do the first year of another degree and use this year's UMAT score to apply for UTAS in 2009. It's easier to get into UTAS as an interstate nonstandard than as an interstate standard (for some reason). But personally I think you've got a good shot for 2008.

:( I got 52(64%); 60(92%); 54(66%). I'm so disappointed :( I applied to UNSW Unimelb UWS Newcastle and Utas as an interstate non-standard. I got an OP2 and I'm on a GPA of 6.75 ... is there any hope at all for  an interview? Argh woe is me

Probably not for Melb, I'm not sure about UWS, I don't think so for Newc (unless you're rural) but you have a decent chance of UTas if you get at least 6.0 in this semester. Good luck.

Thanks for that aussiechica.

Seems like i've screwed up big time...the only places it looks like I stand any chance og getting into (for med) are adelaide and griffith...and possibly monash.

<_<

goddamn.

s1: 57 (81%)
s2: 54 (74%)
s3: 68 (98%)
overall: 59 (90%)

estimated enter: 98-99

you reckon thats enough for an interview for UNSW?

[edit] i forgot to add im international, so they're really tight about it arent they?

Ok: my percentile sum is 242
raw score sum is 176

dont think its good enough...

is it?

That's really not a bad score... it's a little off what most interviews require but it's certainly something you can improve on. At UWS an interview score was about 180 so you're in with a shot there.. we're increasing numbers next year but also adding internationals... so competition should be about the same.. awareness might increase that score a little.

Are you from adelaide? because that makes a bit of a difference there

Hmmm.....

I got 2006 UAI: 99.85

This years UMAT i got 186 (277).

Last year I got 174, I was hoping to get 200 this time, abit dissapointed, what do you guys reckon are my chances for UNSW this year.

I didnt get in last year but I know my interview went bad, I've improved heaps this year so I reckon interview front Im better.

I dunno but that question'll get you a knee to the crotch.

Jokes.

But seriously, i know this whole thing sucks; i'm the first to agree.
But man, you haven't really got a choice now, at the least, all you have to do is walk down the road you've been put on. And i mean that in a good way.

Also, stay away from dent. I hear they pee in a cup and throw it on you.

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way but how madly do you want to study medicine? Quite a few people on this forum have taken gap years and/or started new degrees and resat the UMAT to reapply to med (and go through this whole emotional experience again). How bad do you want it?

Also, I know a year seems like a lot at our age (I'm 20 so 1 year = 5% of my life! :O) but in the grand scheme of things it's really not a lot. In fact, med schools vary from 4.5 years (Bond Uni?) to 6 years so even if you did get into medicine you might be studying for 1 year longer than someone else with an equivalent degree.

Veon wat are your uni prefs for dentistry?

I've ordered them by state of preference, then in terms of ENTER req.
So;
UMelb
La Trobe
UQ
Griffith
UWA

I wish i had Adelaide to include; i'd have had a good shot there.

If we are competing for the same places i'll have to punch you in the neck.
Let's see if you can even try it before i run you through with this here knife.

plus it'll take three-six years to specialise after uni, depending on your speciality and how fast you want to take it (plus an intern year, and possibly a post intern year)... don't expect to be finished til you're like 35 (that's what i'm aiming for anyway :p)

From what I gathered from the thread linked in AC's signature, with my score of 175, I only have one shot and that is with UAdel. Is that right?
