hello, i'm trying to post a thread to find a housemate too, but i have insufficient privileges, what does that mean?

It means you’ve not contributed sufficiently to the forum to unlock the access level that enables you to start your own thread. More often than not, there’s an existing thread you can use. Such as this one...

hi! i'm looking for a female singaporean who will be studying dentistry next year at UoA as a possible housemate 😀 pls do dm if you are interested! thank you 🥰

Apart from the stuff of 60 minutes at St Marks (which I've heard to have been a bit exaggerated), I've met plenty of people from St Marks, and they seem to be full of very 'party' orientated people that study 'pharmacology' in their spare time.
St Marks is the premium college, perfect if your dad and mum are cardiologists and are happy to pay extra for you to socialise with the elites of the state.

All the colleges in SA offer some form of scholarship, and will accept you if you study med or dent.

One of the considerations you should make is the people you want to surround yourself with, so I recommend getting in touch with someone that stays in a college or PM someone in this thread.

As someone who lives at St Marks, I can vouch for several things:
1. 60 Minutes was over-exaggerated, and as a result, there has been a 'cultural renewal' among senior staff, and positive cultural shift in response, and everything I have ever experienced has been welcoming, safe, nurturing & beneficial for all individuals.
2. Yes, St Marks may be the premium college- including better food, an incredible gym, beautiful study spaces, amazing tutorials and support from older Med students, and a whole bunch of people that I'm lucky to call friends. It is so NiCe that you consider us 'the elites of the state' 😂hahaha !! However, we are all from super hardworking families, the vast majority are rural, regional or farming. Students and parents alike have worked their butts off to have the opportunity to live there. As someone who has worked multiple jobs on my gap year and saved to support myself 100% financially, I know that there are many in the same shoes. We are all people who know how to work hard, and also have a good time!
I acknowledge that there are select individuals who don't align with this, however, there are these types of people anywhere in the real world. I would be wary of slander and snap judgements founded off playground gossip and stereotyping.
3. Apply for any scholarships you can get!! The colleges all have terrific funds to support you with, and Adelaide Uni also has scholarships which often receive very few applications, meaning your chances of getting them are high.
And finally- don't forget to find somewhere with people you want to surround yourself with, as SSRI Saint has said. I've been fortunate to find that at St Marks, however everyone is different, so definitely explore all your options, and don't forget to have fun!

Hey there,

I'm a dental student at the UofA but I'm moving out to room with a mate and am looking for someone to take over my contract.
The property is a Deluxe studio at Dwell East End Adelaide (literally across from uni, 7 minute walk to Coles and Woolies), but still quiet enough so that you can study without disruption on Friday nights if needed (you will for med). The price per week is rrp $438 but I have a promotional rate of $368 a week because I have renewed my contract with them 3 years in a row. You will be able to pay this promotional rate.

The room is all inclusive, with modern, high pressure watered bathroom, kitchen (with dishwasher, fridge and microwave), fully furnished, all bills inclusive (water, electricity, gas and internet). Rent in a shared apartment is approximately $250 now, when you add on all these bills, plus given its location, it is definitely worth it.

I highly recommend Dwell, especially if you're a first year and especially if you're studying a high intensity course like med. You don't want to be dealing with internet issues, billing issues, setting up your apartment and the whole works. Any issues you may have, just let the staff know and they will attend to it asap.

Here is the listing of my apartment:

If you have any questions or are interested please don't hesitate to send me a message.

Good luck!

Does anyone know much about the Lincoln rooms? Apparently they don’t have air conditioning unless you leave your door open which is not the best and safest at night. Some people say that the facilities are quite rundown compare to other colleges but charge the same price. For a medical and dental students how far away is it from the medical buildings we’ll have classes at? And I can’t imagine doing online classes in 35 degree weather and closing my door for privacy without in room ac that other colleges have?? Or maybe I’m just overreacting bc of my eczema which flares up in the heat

Hi guys, just interested for interstate med students, where are you guys staying? I think I might go for Y Suites at Waymouth considering most of the other places are fully booked, waitlisting, or too far. But I'm still curious about what other ppl are going for 😊

I'll most likely stay in a student apartment as well, since all the colleges are at full capacity.

I’m still looking for places as well, ideally student apartments. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know!
