DISCLAIMER: replies to any advice requests made based on guesstimate data are provided with caution.

(also, I personally won’t be responding to this thread until percentiles have been released - LMG. Me too - Crow. Lear and Yamster have also added their ‘me too’)

This thread will open for replies when the percentile curves have been released. It will be the sole location to ask the “what are my chances” question. Until then, there is no point asking this in the other threads and such posts will be deleted.

A reply template will be created and posted here for use when asking questions in this thread once it has opened (similar to previous UMAT threads).

Hang in there everyone! You can do it!

When posting your scores please show your 2019 overall score but deduct 20 from it then show the approx percentile as per UKCAT 2018 someone posted up earlier.

Applying for: medicine
Application Type: school leaver
Predicted ATAR/GPA: 99.85 and if the stars align, 99.95 (this is due to the IB to ATAR conversion where 44/45 = 99.85 and 45/45 = 99.95 with no in between)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 99 (?)
VR: 640
DM: 820
QR: 900
AR: 890
Total: 3250 (3230 if you subtract 20 but that should still be a safe 99 if I'm not mistaken)
SJ: 630
Current State: South Australia
Applying to: Monash, Adelaide, UNSW, Flinders, UQ
Rural Applicant: no
GWS Applicant: no
Indigenous Applicant: no
Other: none
Specific Questions:
1. For Flinders, it is to my understanding that if I do manage to pull off at least a 99.85, I should get an offer? And if I get a 99.60, my chances effectively drop to zero?
2. For the remaining universities I'm applying to i.e. Monash, Adelaide, UNSW etc., would getting a 99.25 ATAR (IB 42/45) if my end of years don't go my way (so 99.25 + 99) still make me competitive enough for an interview offer?
3. What are my chances of landing an actual place in Monash med with 99.85 (provided I do get 44/45) + 99? In the past UMAT threads some people were given an approximate chance e.g. 20%, more than 50/50 etc., so I would like to know what mine are, as my interview skills aren't great and I'm preparing for the worst.

Specific Question: I know i've done prettty bad lol. I was wondering if theres any hope for med besides JCU? Also if not med I'd want to try and get into dentistry and then maybe transfer 1st year to med. Which uni would give the best opportunity to do this? THANKSSS

Applying for: Medicine and Dentistry
Application Type: Gap year
Predicted ATAR/GPA: OP 1 (think with an atar conversion it was 99.00)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 99th

QR: 780
AR: 870

Applying to: UQ Dent, pretty much all med schools (with the exception of UQ who don’t take gap year applicants unfortunately)
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: No
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: n/a
Specific Question: Very happy with my UCAT results but considering my ATAR isn’t an overwhelming score, I’m quite worried about UTAS. I was originally keen to apply there but due to the new system with applicants ranked on ATAR, is there really all too much of a point in keeping my hopes up for it?

Applying for: Medicine
Application Type: School leaver
Predicted ATAR/GPA: high 98 or low 99 (at the very worst)

Applying to:
UNSW, WSU, JMP, UQ, UTAS
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: No
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: No
Specific Question: 1. My suburb is listed under GWS postcode on the General Applicants Page but in the actual application to WSU, it was considered as non-GWS. Which is more reliable and should I raise the discrepancy to the university?
2. Is UNSW likely to use SJT 50 percentile as hurdle?
3. What are my chances to the unis I have listed?

Applying for: Dentistry
Application Type: (School leaver)
Predicted ATAR/GPA: Not exactly sure what the ATAR conversion is for CIE A levels but (3 A*) should be 99.5ish I've heard

Applying for: Medicine
Application Type: School leaver
Predicted ATAR/GPA: 99.0 - 99.4 most likely, could range from around 98.5 - 99.5 depending on how I go in trials + externals (very unsure atm)
UCAT Percentile Rank: 97
VR: 830
DM: 640
QR: 780
AR: 770
Total: 3020
SJ: 725
Current State: NSW
Applying to: UNSW (preferably), WSU, JMP, unsure about interstate atm
Rural Applicant: No
GWS Applicant: No
Indigenous Applicant: No
Other: N/A
Specific Question:
1. Chances for the universities I've listed, assuming I get around a 99.3 ATAR?
2. By how much do my chances increase with a higher ATAR? (ie. 99 → 99.2 → 99.4 → 99.6, if that makes sense)
3. In the worst case scenario where I get 98 - 98.5, how screwed would I be?

Thanks! ☺️
