Questions...
How much time per week should I practice on UCAT questions?
Should I be mindful when choosing test locations and dates?
Is the screen calculator useful?
A close friend of mine failed to secure a place this year so I think I should investigate this thoroughly.
1. Depends on your workload and how well you manage your time, but for a busy Year 12, 20-30 minutes a day or every two days won't hurt, although if you do a practice exam that's a two hour commitment which you might wanna reserve for the weekends.

2. If there are multiple testing locations available, choose either the closest one to your house or the one which you will experience the least traffic jams getting there. I specifically avoided the one in the city for this very reason. As for time of day, I recommend doing it in the morning where you're the most alert and awake but not too early that you might have trouble making it on time. 9-10 AM is good.

3. Yes, some questions such as calculating the percentage x is of y or the volume of a solid can be done much faster on a calculator than in your head. Don't be overly reliant on it though, and always run the numbers it returns through your head to check if it makes sense and you didn't type something wrong.

Yep, it’s very important to get into a rhythm with your practice. Eleanor Rigby Personally I did Medify questions most weeknights, and always did a MedEntry or Medify mock exam every Saturday morning (naturally with the exception of assessment periods). As it gets closer to your testing date, you might want to start doing your mock exams at the same time as you’ll be sitting the actual exam so you’re not thrown off on the actual day.

Hi guys!

Just wondering what the chances are of getting an offer for Monash Medicine in the following rounds as I didn't manage to get one in the First Round. I got a 99.25, 99th percentile UCAT and felt the interview went alright (but hmm..).

Also, if I am unable to get a direct entry Monash offer, is the Melbourne or Monash biomed/graduate medicine course better?

Specific Question:
Chances for interview at Monash? If I do manage to receive an interview around how strong would I have to perform (70+ %tile?) to be accepted, given that I'm an interstate applicant. Thanks :)

Just as a follow-up to this, I did not receive an interview offer (they came out 3-4 days ago) and did end up with a 99.90.

Hey,
With an atar of ~98 accompanied with SEAS and Monash guarantee (Victorian), as well as a 90th percentile UCAT, what are my chances at Monash, UQ Dent/med, UoAdel dent/med, Curtin and Bond?

What subjects do you do? 99 atar (with bonuses) is required to be eligible for UQ's medical course (provisional. This means that your 98 is not enough unless you are doing math specialist or a language or both. Once you cross that hurdle, a 90th percentile UCAT at UQ would be (at most) able to snag you a bonded place - this depends on how much the cutoffs bounce back since 2020 intake was affected by the half cohort graduating from QLD schools.

From my experience, depends on how high your 98 ATAR is when applying to Curtin. I know people who didn't manage to get Curtin invites with a high 99 but a 80th UCAT. I would reckon a lower 98 ATAR might not be enough to get you an interview at Curtin.

You'd be on the border for getting an interview at Adelaide for med, I think you'd clear dent interview cutoffs with a 90th though. Adelaide's interviews can make or break your chances - so I'm not gonna speculate on that. I'll let a staff member do that.

I am doing specialist maths so i'll get 2 points for UQ. Does this boost my atar to a 99.95?

Yes it does, but for UQ the 99 is only a hurdle so getting it boosted to a 99.95 vs. just a 99 doesn't mean anything to them - that's why they give it out more generously.

How about my chances at monash with the MG?

I would call it unknown at this stage rather than this^. Two major changes are coming up : from 2020-21 Qld will be using ATAR instead of OP and UQ Med will include an interview, which by their grad-entry process means 25% ATAR 25% UCAT 50% interview.

So ATAR is likely to matter in offer ranking, the question is will UQ count it in Selection Rank steps (99, 98, 97 etc) or in ATAR 0.05 steps.

Do you know the exact/approximate selection rank MG boosts you to? 99? 99.5? etc.
This is the problem.
I have no clue what how the MG will help me.
I know however than a 96 atar + 89th percentile got a interview at monash this year with the MG (and managed to get a BMP).
I am assuming that it would bump up atar by 2-3 points.
Do you have any idea how it works?
