[Undergrad] UMAT 2017 Results Discussion

WSU Alum
I read the JMP page as not allowed to transfer into midstream JMP, but you can apply/compete to enter Y1 JMP.

They did say that but it's still under the page which is about 'can I transfer etc etc'. What I took that to mean was if you were to transfer you'd need to transfer into year 1, but since iStudent knows someone it would be good to clarify how they managed to get it.

Section Three: 54
Overall Percentile Rank: 93
Estimated ATAR/GPA: 99
Preferred University: Any
Course Type:

Rural: No
GWS: Yes

These overall/section scores plus ATAR 99+ should get you an interview anywhere except JCU (application dependent) and Monash being interstate.

Ive called up UoNe and they've said that if you apply through UAC as a general non standard applicant, then it should be fine.

Question/s:
What are my chances for UNSW? is it true that if you have a relatively UMAT and ATAR/GPA, you can score slightly lower on your interview?

Looking very good for UNSW. It's true you'll have less a burden on the interview (my estimate yours is in the region of 30-40%ile up). See the last part of my FAQs on Basics post in the Med Entrance subforum.

Question/s: There any hope for me in any university for undergraduate or provisional medicine if I manage to pull my atar up to about 98. thanks :)

Your Umat looks rather unhelpful, you can try JCU particularly if you can push ATAR well above 98.

Hey congrats on your scoreeee

Probably not, Sammy. Make sure you do a JCU application though, there's no UMAT there so might be your saving grace. Get someone to proof read your written JCU application as everything will be riding on it!

(and thank you!!)

section1: 58
section 2: 51
section 3:62
overall: 171 - 83% percentile
Uni: UNSW preferred but willing to go anywhere
No bonuses i have
Atar was 99.50 in 2016
gpa i expect to be around 6.8 (1st year uni so non standard)
Any chances anywhere?

Not sure if this post has been answered. GPA 6.8 should maintain your equiv rank to 99.5 , then check my Criteria table in the Med Entrance sub forum - I think 171 is around borderline for 99.5 to get a UNSW interview.

Other than UNSW & JCU your section scores are not enough for the other non-std unis WSU JMP UTas.

Probably a decent chance at UTAS, but we really don't have much data on UTAS school leaver UMAT scores. Best of luck, and if you can, please report back to MSO whether you get an offer or not so we can start collating some more reliable info. Thank you!

Unfortunately I think your UMAT scores are too low for most of the medical schools, JMP, for example would require a 60+ on section 1 and 50 for both section 2 and 3. You have a solid Atar so perhaps try JCU or Bond.

Bond have a 98.0 ATAR cut-off, unfortunately.

Good chance at all of them, I'd think!! Maybe not UTAS with a S2 <60, but you won't need it anyway...
