Thank you! Very odd time also - Friday night?? Happy nonetheless! Definitely wasn't expecting it this early.

Yeah, don’t question it, just hit that accept button! See you next year! If you have any questions, hit me up :D

ETA: Crap! ‘spose this means I need to start an offers thread!!

Does going to UTAS limit the different rotations available for internships
I was looking at the AMSA internship guide: AMSA Internship Guide 2018 | Australian Medical Students’ Association
And tassie has a lot less available rotations at their hospitals
Does this mean going to UTAS would limit the fields you can specialise in ?

So, I asked my friend and her reply was basically that "no one worries about it" and it's not seen as "limiting". Given my (current!) plan is paediatrics with a back up of psychiatry, and neither are in the intern rotations, I asked about them specifically, and her reply was that both are well covered in PGY2 (up to 6 months), and that it's possible to do the whole 12 months of PGY3 in those areas.

I don't know if that really helps? I might tag a few regulars who've done intern years and hope one or two of them might be available to provide their
thoughts at some stage (Mana, pi, hpfanfiction, Benjamin).

Has anybody heard whether there have been more offers sent out from UTAS ( rural)??

None reported here. And given those already sent have a confirm by date in Dec, I wouldn’t probably expect anymore until after then at a minimum. But that’s just a guess.

I thought they were being gradually sent out through November?

Given they’re based on conditional ATAR and the RAP office have had the written applications since Sept, there’s not really any reason why they’d have to do a gradual release. They always say this, but it’s never reflected in what we see here, so I have my doubts, tbh.

That said, I have a long history of being given incorrect information from admissions so maybe I’m just cynical! Fingers crossed for those waiting.

Thank you!
I was also informed that UTAS offers for rural candidates have not been completed. Heard from someone that a person known to him had received a conditional offer this evening. Which is why thoughtvof clarifying with the forum

Completely agree that they won’t have been completed. UTAS has quite a high (comparatively) decline rate, and so offers will (at worst) trickle out until the end of Feb. You often have to be cautious when speaking with admissions because their responses can be filled with technicalities, just a point to be aware of.

This is a bit of strange question but I didn't really know where else to put it, does anyone know what the parking situation is like around Jane Franklin Hall? Is there unrestricted parking nearby?

Yes, there is definitely free parking nearby, but it will be street parking.

But unrestricted street parking?

Do you mean you can park there for free for as long as you want? Yes, there will definitely be some parking like this in the general vicinity. I can’t say for sure whether it will be right at Jane, but will be in short walking distance.

(ETA: I know this because I parked in some unrestricted, free street parking for a reason unrelated to Jane but very close by only last week).
