Browsing this Site
If you browse through this Site without entering any personal data, we will gather and store certain information about your visit. This information does not identify you personally and cannot be linked back to you unless you decide to identify yourself. If you are only browsing, we collect the following information: IP address, the type of browser and operating system used to access this Site, the date and time you access this Site, the pages you visit (click-through), and if you linked to this Site from another website, the address of that website as well as additional information related to your visit. We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with this Site’s server, and to administer this Site.

Information You Provide
MSO allows users to enter a variety of optional user information. The information you provide in your profile may customised to allow only some users to view it. To customise the types of information other users have access to visit your Profile Privacy page. All other information including, but not limited to, your field of study, gender, location, avatar, signature and other profile fields are freely available to all users if you provide them. These fields are not mandatory. In addition, all posts, threads, comments and chat communications you make on MSO may be freely available to all users. The username you register with is publicly viewable, is attached to any communications you make and may be changed once via the ‘Edit Profile‘ page. If you have changed your username it cannot be changed again.

Your email address by default is only accessible to MSO staff members. This information is kept private and is not shared to 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] parties. This information may be used to communicate with you in certain circumstances. You may opt out of receiving emails from MSO on your settings page. If you allow users to download your ‘vCard’ they will then have access to your email address.

If you opt in to a mailing list or other newsletter communication you may receive emails from MSO.

Private Messaging
Private messaging communications are only available to yourself and the person with which you are communicating. No other user or staff member has access to this communication. However the user you are communicating with may choose to share this information or report it to a staff member. If your private message is reported to a staff member it may be accessed by a site Administrator only.

Facebook Connect
If you opt to use Facebook connect MSO will access a number of fields from your Facebook profile. You will be warned which information is accessed at the time of registration. Your Facebook account will then be linked with your MSO account. This link can be removed on your Connections page. MSO users and staff members do not have access to the information you share between MSO and Facebook. No staff member or user can identify your Facebook account even when it is linked to your MSO account. You may reveal your identity if you choose to use your full name or other personally identifying information in your profile or other communications.

Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to MSO.
Google’s use of the DART cookie enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
You may opt out of the use of the DART cookie by visiting the advertising opt-out page.

MSO has a variety of industry level security measures in place to help protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.
