Griffith Griffith Medicine: Gold Coast Accommodation

Yeah I have also checked out the student guild but now I am thinking about maybe renting out a sharehouse with dent/med students. Let me know if anyone is interested 😃
I'm currently contemplating between Village and a sharehouse, tho leaning more toward Village Sem 1 (to facilitate making friends) then moving into a sharehouse

Yeah, think I'm crossing the student village off lol. Seems v polarising - either have the time of your life or the worst - though opinions seem to lean more towards the latter, especially if you're older than 17/18. If anyone wants to look into renting a sharehouse, or simply just wants to establish contact with someone there, shoot me a message :)

are there any first year med sci kids considering the griffith uni village tho? I'm still just sussing out, currently considering a 2 bedroom apartment.
either that or univillage - which seems good too but seems really quiet, i'm feeling kind of drawn to the social aspects of the guv but wondering more about what other med sci kids are thinking?

tleb will be able to give you better insight into this. From what I’ve heard, GUV does have a social aspect, though often times you may end up struggling to study when you need to and want things to be quieter, due to the noise outside. I’ve also seen that the accomodation is very average for the price. However, I’ve heard GUV is an experience in itself, though probably not sustainable in the long run as a med student (first year alone does get quite hectic, you will be completing 14 courses in the first year as opposed to 8). So if you need a quiet space to study GUV is probably not right for you. If partying is your thing then it could be acceptable. If it’s just to socialise, you don’t need to worry as you will have plenty of opportunity to socialise during normal uni times.

Anyone have any input/experience regarding ‘metro on central’ as accomodation?
The travel time to get to uni nears 30 minutes by bus, public transport also doesn’t seem too convenient there. For the Gold Coast, 30 mins travel is actually quite lengthy. Some student accomodations are actually quite inconveniently located so keep that in mind. In general, without cars, most people will want to live along the tram line to make it convenient to get to most places that events will take place in during the first 2 years. Southport, Broadwater Parklands and anything up until Surfers Paradise tend to be acceptable for Uni students.

The student accomodations at University Village and University Square are also quite convenient to get to uni from, about a 15 minute walk to both uni and the tram line from both. Try to find accomodation near places where public transport is convenient and the bus doesn’t come every 30 minutes.

Note that the contract to stay at Griffith University Village is usually for a whole year. I don’t think it can be for a single semester. In any case, you will be meeting a lot of people during uni from lectures, tutorials, labs and PASS sessions so no need to worry about the social aspect, get excited to start!

Hey guys Im looking for a potential female roomie for Griffith :) let me know if you would be interested ! I'm moving from Melbourne and would love to get a decent accomodation with someone near uni !

There is an option for a single semester stay :) It's a little bit more expensive a week than the annual contract (~$10) but from Village students I've spoken to, most wish they'd only done a single semester in hindsight (reasons being majority of action and events are Sem 1, people are looking to make friends Sem 1, and hard to justify cost for a year)

Hi, I’m a first year Med sci student at Griffith GC. Looking to share a room at Smith Collective with 1 or 2 roommates. Feel free to PM me.

Hey, I'm also starting first year medsci at the gold coast campus this year. Moving up from Sydney and looking to rent a 2 bedroom apartment at Sphere gold coast. Looking for 1 roommate. Let me know if you're interested

Carp I would also be down to share a place at Smith's collective

Hey, I am starting first year dental science at the gold coast campus. I'm still looking for accommodation but finding it a bit difficult as I am moving down from Adelaide. Please PM me if you are looking for a female flatmate.

Hi, also starting first year Med Sci at Gold Coast campus in a week, boy from Syd. Have you already rented at Smith Collective? as both Uni Square and Uni Village are fully taken.

Sounds like a blessing in disguise! Smith Collective would be much better than the uni accommodation imo.

Any suggestions for accommodation close to Gold Coast campus?
Check out the first page of this thread if you haven’t already. I don’t have anything to add to what I / others have suggested already, sorry.
