Hey Guys!

As you all may know, JCU interview offers are just around the corner...(around 12th Nov)

Post here if you receive an offer.
Include:
-Standard (predicted ATAR)
-Non-standard (ATAR and GPA)
-State
-Remote/not remote

Good luck! :)

hmm why did you mention to include ATAR if non-standard? I thought only the GPA counts once you have commenced tertiary study.

I spoke to admissions a month or so ago.
They told me they consider ATAR if you have recently graduated.
They look at the two scores 'holistically' which is what they told me :/

Hi!

I have my interview on Thursday the 17th. I'm an international and 1st year MedLab student at JCU. How long is the typical interview? Mine starts at 10 and my last exam is at 1.15...

Thanks!

Can you not request JCU for a different interview time? They should be sympathetic to that.
Thanks for the quick reply! I did think about that, however it states in the invitation that 'Changes to the interview day or time are not possible'. But do you think the interview will run until 1?

I couldn't find more recent info, this 2009 post says the interview was about 30 minutes. Allowing a little time for registration, briefing etc I'd say no more than an hour in total

Allow up to 1 hour for the interview.... The interview itself lasts roughly 30 minutes, but as A1 mentioned, the pre-administration and post-administration takes some time too (depending on how many people there are etc).

So to answer your question, no, it will not run until 1 :)

All the best and good luck!

Hey Guys, I sent JCU Admissions an email about interview off dates and they responded with the following:
Dear Jessica,

The College has confirmed the MBBS interview dates are 29 November to 8 December and are published in the MBBS Information Sheet so students can plan ahead - https://www.jcu.edu.au/__data/asset.../173873-Information-Sheet-MBBS-2017_V2pdf.pdf.

A limited number of applicants will be invited for interview - JCU will contact the successful candidates 10 to 14 days prior to the above dates if they have been short-listed for an interview. Applicants selected for interview will be sent an email outlining their allocated time and date for interview based on the details provided at time of application.

Selection of applicants to be interviewed will be based on evaluation of the application together with all available information regarding academic performance. To be considered for a place in medicine, applicants must attend the interview at the allocated time and date.

We wish you all the best with your medicine application.

Best regards, Janine

Any idea how recent they are talking? I graduated in 2010 with a shocking atar (85) but since then I have completed a psych degree and a masters with a WAM >90 o_O:(

They won't be looking at your ATAR! UTAS only use ATAR if <3 semesters of Uni have been studied. It's probably something similar for JCU, but they definitely won't be looking at your 6 year old ATAR. And they definitely DEFINITELY won't be looking at it over your Masters degree!
