JCU JCU Medicine: Interview Discussion

other criteria that come into play to prioritise candidates over others when granting interviews (e.g. QTAC preference order, State of origin, suburb/regional area, high school attended...)
Adding to the replies above ....
1. IB or ATAR and QTAC pref order have no bearing on JCU interview selection
2. State of origin plays a big part at several med schools but not JCU (neither UNSW, JMP, Griffith, Flinders)
3. School / home locations are weighted heavily at JCU. We've seen a predicted 99.95 not getting an interview

I am curious to understand better what pathway you are using for the interview this year as a uni student?
One factor to keep in mind is qwertyui got an interview at Year12 then again this year as non-standard largely thanks to their extensive rural background. If there's no change to your daughter's residential status it's possibly the same outcome next year (unless JCU will change tact on the selection criteria).

My daughter got a 45 predicted IB
If she does achieve IB45 she should get a provisional place offer from Griffith or USC.
That's more assured than getting JCU interview with about one-in-four chance of a place offer.

Guys my JCU interview is soon I understand it is panel, similar to UNSW? How many interviewers, what are the general types of questions and what are specific areas to study up on before the interview?

Hi, do we have any records of people who got second round JCU interviews getting in? Are they treated any differently?

I received a second round invite today, I am trying to weigh up whether to go through with it, or add an extra Griffith medicine course instead (my ATAR is above the cutoff, but I have passed the recommended due date on 8 Dec, although the hard deadline is 29 Dec).

Please help!! So unsure of what to do :(

I am a QLD nonrural resident if it helps.
Hi, i’m in the same boat this year. Just wondering what you decided on and if anyone else had advice for this same situation.

A reminder that those who wish to break NDAs are free to make that choice if they want* BUT do not post information specific to interview content here at MSO before interview periods have been FULLY completed (this includes any uni that has multiple interview rounds).

*we don’t have a position on these either way, it’s up to the individual
