Hi I was at Carrington this year doing health sci, you'll have an awesome time (especially if they sort out the internet like they always say they're going to). Balancing lifestyle and work shouldn't be that hard, big bonus to have that UMAT under your belt already. The work isn't really that extreme, the key is being organised. I found that doing notes and keeping on top of the work during the week mean't that for most of the year I could have Friday nights and Saturdays off (probably beast to stop drinking a couple of weeks before exams, carrington has a drinking ban anyway). Try and go to lectures in the morning, its to easy to sleep in if you decide to work in the morning. Only go out on Thursdays when absolutely necessary. I wouldn't do an 8th paper unless you have one really shocking mark (B+ or A-), If you do well in hubs191, cels191 and chem191 then you'll be fine for bioc and hubs192 in semester 2 (and epi is a joke its so easy) I found the other paper a waste of time, better to focus on the compulsory ones, even though others seem interesting HSFY isn't the time to give yourself extra work. The cook draught tastes like pure piss - splash out on monteiths, dont bother with monkey bar, it always sucks. Work particularly hard semester 1, the workload is way bigger. Most people don't do as well S2 just because everyone relaxes a bit, especially people who are on track from S1. Also dont be intimidated by the company you are in at Carrington, there are freaky people around getting 95%+ averages (idk you might be one of these), but remember you dont need those kind of marks, try and stay above 90 and you'll be sweet with that UMAT. I wouldn't bother working over the hols, the lecture slides are kinda useless without having been to the lectures to get some context. Just enjoy your hols while you got them. Hardest paper depends on whether your good at chem and physics really. Chem has lowest pass rate, its probly the one that makes people drop out, but I would say Bioc is harder (you can't do bioc if you fail chem so that'll be why its pass rate is higher) - it has a lot of content and more complex ideas than any other paper, but its really well organised with comprehensive notes and stuff (you really don't need the text book at all) so its not that bad. Main thing is to not get overwhelmed and burn out, just work steadily and you'll be ok
Hope that helps somewhat.
