Thanks for the help. I was also wondering whether you knew anything about SATAC application? Because on somewhere on the website it said something about submitting rural application documents 10 days after submission. Does that mean after submission deadline (like late Sep) or the actual date after you finish your application through SATAC (cuz its already been more than 10 days for me and I was wondering whether I could still apply for Rural). Thanks for the help again!

Yes, SATAC has date requirements. 10 days for Flinders and 5 for UAdel. Historically they have been very strict with these cut offs. We’ve had people report here to MSO in the past that they’ve been deemed not eligible for rural entry on the basis of missing these deadlines.

When filling out my direct application for the Joint Medical Program (UNE and UoN), as a rural SA applicant, and filling out my full address history from birth, what do I do if I was born overseas? There's an option for "state", giving a drop-down menu of the states in Australia, so I'm not sure what to do. Please help!

Always best to contact the uni directly with out of the ordinary requests, definitely give that a try.

If you're still after an answer, I think it only asks for Australian addresses. So just start from your first address once you came to Australia.

With UAC application via rural pathway do they require any documents other than the stat declaration from their website to be filled .
for example, for QTAC they require home electricity bills for the residential address during the rural period

I assume you mean Adelaide Uni. From a post by Bethl I searched for this webpage

- Interview selection for the Rural Background pathway will also consider an applicant’s Year 12 study location.

• Category 1 includes MM2-7 students who have undertaken Year 12 at a SA rural school
• Category 2 includes MM2-7 students who have undertaken Year 12 at any SA school
• Category 3 includes MM2-7 students who have undertaken Year 12 in a rural location in any state in Australia

Interview places will be filled by eligible candidates from Category 1, prior to the selection of any candidates from Category 2, and so on...

Say UAdel interviews 150 rural applicants (for 40 places), does this mean if there are fewer than 150 Cat 1 applicants they all get an interview even with 10-20 %ile UCAT? I think it does.

Then it goes to Cat 2. By then they will have more than 150 applicants so there's a UCAT cutoff. I don't think any rural from interstate will get an interview.

Hi guys,

I'm currently in the process of applying for undergraduate medicine through the rural schemes offered. I resided in an MM4 area from December 2020, up until December 2023. I then moved to an MM5 area, when I plan on completing my secondary education in 2025. Would I still be eligible to apply through the rural scheme, as I submit my applications around late September, and miss the 5 year mark by 2 months?
When asked for the time duration lived at my current address, is it okay to say up to December 2025, since most applications say that the 5 years have to be by the time I've submitted the applications.
I would love to have the perspective of people who went through a similar experience, and were still considered to be rural. How did your application process go?

Rural applicants are those who,
as of 31 December prior to the admission year,
have spent at least 10 years cumulatively or
any five years consecutively in an area with
a Modified Monash Model category MM 2-7
since the commencement of primary school
(Year 1 onwards).

TLDR you will not be eligible to apply under rural entry. Consider gap year and apply for 2027 entry which is when you are eligible to use it.
