Hello everyone :)
So spoke to admin today and they advised me that major round offers will most likely go up late next week (friday) or early the week after next.
In light of that information, I thought I'd start up a thread.

When offers are released please post as follows:
Offer: Yes / No
ATAR/GPA:
UMAT:
Special Consideration:
>Rural
>GWS
>Indigenous Entry
>Other (ie. nonstandard)

Bonded/Unbonded:

Hey nabey, did the admin specify whether it was for interstate students as well? or just tasmanian students.

Sooo first post on medstudentsonline…..

I have been advised by a reputable admissions staff member that 1st round offers are the first week of december and 2nd round offers will come out just before christmas. As far a as I can tell from previous years information on this site, you shouldn't count yourself out until mid February.

fingers crossed

If the offers come out at the start of December they'll come out some time this week during working days.

Unfortunately I haven't posted enough to reply to a personal message, so I'll post it here. Someone asked who told me the info about the offers. Fiona, a student recruitment officer gave me the information re: dates.

Goodluck to all applying for UTAS

I just contacted Helen Sainsbury (domestic admissions officer), and she told me that a book 2 score of 60 (section 2) is needed to get a first round offer, and that until they run out of people with scores of 60 in section 2, they will not offer anyone else a place, independent of the raw mark you achieved in the umat. Furthermore, she said that offers will be out before Christmas, as they are sorting it out right now, but it is unlikely to be this week or the next week.

Can anyone confirm the book 2 score of 60 (section 2)? I've never heard of this hurdle for UTas medicine apart from the 70 WAM.

Yeah I heard this too from someone else at admissions a couple of months ago. I think that it must be true. However i am curious to know, did she say anything about getting a minimum of 50 in the other 2 sections?

I got 60 bang on in section 2  . Nervous wait then. No interview right?

me too! oh dear.

does that mean everyone with a section 2 score of 60 and above will get offer provided they meet 95 atar threshold? or that people will be ranked based on the overall %ile only if they satisfy 60 in section 2.
i hope its the former but think its the latter :(

I'm thinking that could be anyone who gets 60 section 2 and 95 ATAR will get an offer though that must be for locals only?

If there's a threshold for section scores it's usually just that: a threshold. Usually the 50:50:50 or 60 in section 2 rules will provide cut-off points, and they'll then use other criteria to give offers. It has to be more complicated than giving everyone who gets above 60 in S2 an offer, since this could potentially give way more people than needed an offer. For example, if a kid gets 50:60:50, then their score will be 160, which is around 65th %ile... If they give everyone above this mark an offer then there would be thousands of students getting them.

So in your scenario it's more the latter than the former. They would have to give literally thousands of interviews if they gave everyone above 60 in section 2 and above 95 ATAR an interview. There are other criteria they take into account. But relax, you should be fine!

Although note that I'm generally speaking in an interstate sense, not for local kids.

Yeah that seems more accurate to me, going off only section 2 seems off so ATAR and section 1 will probably end up coming into it.

No interviews I thought for Tasmania? Makes it impossible for them to give everyone who got 60+ section 2 an offer.

Sweet Section two is my strong point @ 62. Fingers crossed.

Why is section 1 always considered more important that section 3?

I'm non standard from interstate that meets the >70% Uni score and UMAT of:

1. 56
2. 62
3. 50
Percentile: 76%
Overall: 167

EEEEEEK!!!!

I'm talking 5 years ago now but I received mine on their website first and then got a letter in the post.
