There are lots of people in this thread who’ve done STAT courses and have widely recommended them. Maybe someone can help.I appreciate if anyone can share notes and past papers for STAT110 and STAT115
Without your help I may fail!!
Hi just wondering if you ended up taking this paper (MATS204) , and if so, how did u find it?Kia ora! Looking into papers for my second year (2022) and was wondering if anyone has done the summer school paper MATS204? It can be a distance paper, and looks quite interesting, so was wondering if anyone here has done it!! Thanks![]()
Hey, sorry for the late reply, i just saw this. I ended up with an A+ in the paper, it's all internally assessed and as I'm interested in sustainability I really enjoyed it!! As long as you dedicate a couple of days for the main assignments and do all the little ones you should do pretty well tbhHi just wondering if you ended up taking this paper (MATS204) , and if so, how did u find it?
Hey, if you haven't done it already I did MATS204 and it's also distance and has no exam(!!) and is quite interesting if you are interested in sustainability. If you have any questions replyHey might be a long shot but has anyone here done MFCO 224, RELS 214, or RELS 237 for summer school? If so would you recommend any of them over FORB as I'd rather take distance papers than go back down early...
Yupp, I took it this year and I would 100% recommend it! What other ss papers did you take?Hey, if you haven't done it already I did MATS204 and it's also distance and has no exam(!!) and is quite interesting if you are interested in sustainability. If you have any questions reply![]()
Hey I would be interested to hear what people would recommend between CMCH201, EDU252, or MAOR202, thanks!!!
Hi although I have completed my Bsc. Here are my experiences regarding the content and workload on some of the GENE papers as well as some MICR papers I have taken.Hi there, Just wondering if there is someone who has done BSc (Genetics) for the graduate entry and if you could pls provide some advice regarding workload and how hard the papers are to get A+?
Thanks a lot.
Hey, I took 341, 342, and 303 last year! I found them all to be good papers, and if you want more information on it, just flick a message throughHas anyone taken either PHSL341, PHSL342, NEUR303 or ANAT336? Currently trying to decide on which ones to take but I am pretty unsure. I have read some good things about ANAT336 so will probably take that one, but not sure on the other 3. Would love to here anyones thoughts
I'm trying to decide last minute if I want to add Neur303 to my timetable, any info you have on it would be appreciated (what was the workload like, were the lectures interesting, etc.)!Hey, I took 341, 342, and 303 last year! Thanks so much! It would be nice to have an open book exam for sure, that would be great if you could message me about the assignments!! Have to decide whether to add by tomorrow lol so I'm just looking for whatever info I can getDoing it now so don't have all the information as we have only had two lectures BUT it seems like it'll be an interesting course. There's way more people than I expected taking it (like 50-60). The paper follows four lecturers, each with their own focus (obesity, behavioural neuroendocrinology, prolactin, and reproduction), the current lecturer seems really interesting and although the lectures are 2 hours he said they rarely last that long, and they try to ensure that some of the time is spent as a "tutorial" (i.e. discussion based). 40% internally assessed (12% writing a text explaining science to the public, 12% research proposal, 12% data analysis, and 4% group presentation) and 60% exam (3 hours, 4 essays). Honestly some of the assignments don't sound that enticing (to me) but when he explained them they sounded way more interesting!!!
The first lecturer said he doesn't have all the details about the exam but he hopes it can be open book (so do I lol), but obviously zero guarantee it actually will be. Lmk if you want to know more about the assignments and I can message you the stuff from the course outline about each one!!
Alg!! I'm not sure if I did it properly but I believe I sent you the 2023 course outline for itThanks so much! Ah sorry for the late reply! But NEUR303 was by far my favourite paper at university! It had fascinating lectures, and the assignments were really fun to do as well. Especially the research proposal, because unlike other papers such as physiology the research proposal was on a made-up hormone, so we can make up the mechanism of action e.g. receptors it acts on, effects it elicits etc. which made it a lot of fun to write up!I'm trying to decide last minute if I want to add Neur303 to my timetable, any info you have on it would be appreciated (what was the workload like, were the lectures interesting, etc.)!
I did MICR223/BIOC221 in 2020 and GENE222 in 2021, and I can confirm that MICR223 is a lot more difficult than GENE222. I would probably recommend GENE over MICR grade-wise but I think that its important to consider the pre-reqs of whatever 300 lvls you want to do when deciding what 200 lvls to do, as well as pick papers which are interesting to you. MICR papers in general are pretty hard, but if you're interested in the papers it'll make it a lot easier to do well in them. Feel free to ask questions about the individual papers.Hi there, I'm in the process of switching into BBiomed (REGD) and am deciding between MICR223 or GENE222 as one of my papers. I haven't done BIOC221 or GENE221 (doing next year) due to my switch and am wondering what would be a better fit? I find MICR223 interesting but hear its quite intense, whereas GENE222 is a little more relaxed and was recommended for me to do by the BBiomed advisor as it would open up more paper opportunities in my 3rd year.
Thanks for your reply! I think I'll prob end up going for GENE222, it does open up more 300 papers next year in case anything goes wrong - although MICR223 has a new learning approach this year where you watch lectures online and turn up for 'tutorial lectures,' I don't think it changes the fact that its pretty content heavy haha. For GENE22, is there anything you would recommend people watch out or / be prepared for?I did MICR223/BIOC221 in 2020 and GENE222 in 2021, and I can confirm that MICR223 is a lot more difficult than GENE222.
