I find both interesting!
but I can see sonography being more sustainable in the long run (pay, lifestyle, stability, employability etc)

Mazzzzzzie - I don't see why doing radiography necessarily has to rule out graduate entry medicine for you. There's no rush to start medicine immediately! Naturally you need to select which career path you'd prefer to go down (and sustainability is a great consideration there) to choose whether or not to transfer courses, but this doesn't mean you have to rule out non-standard entry or graduate entry altogether.

I guess my main concern is not having a competitive GPA once I graduate sonography. The practical scanning units are hard to pass and a fail won't look great when applying for postgrad medicine

I think the perceived difficulty of one degree over another is very subjective and wouldn’t get too caught up in it. Plenty of people go into medicine on a background of physio, radiography, paramedicine etc. You can definitely manage it. That’s not to mention that a number of unis either have GPA as a hurdle requirement only (meaning it won’t actually matter how you go) or place minimal weighting on it with more emphasis on GAMSAT/portfolio/interview. Don’t write yourself off before you’ve even started!

...However, if you think a course may be hard for YOU to pass, then this is something worth considering. Whilst there are hurdle schools wherein a blighted GPA may pass muster, you would be limiting your choices if you opt for a degree you would find difficult to complete at a reasonable level.

Hey guys, I am new here. I have seen the common pitfalls for year 12 and Non School Leavers which made me question what course do I do? Medical Science and all those related health sciences are a no go from the post and so I am really not sure what to do. I just want to be able to transfer into a dentistry or medicine course in the 1st year and am looking into easy courses but those that have a good future job prospect. Anyone have suggestions on what courses to do?

I mean mainly med and dentistry but I do kind of like something computer/IT related. I just prefer to do courses that are health related so I can transfer. Which courses do you recommend that are piss easy and gives me a chance to transfer with a 6+ gpa?

You don’t need to do health related courses in order to be eligible for non-standard entry, and an ‘easy’ course is entirely subjective. If IT is your thing, you’d possibly find that relatively ‘easy’ compared to me, who would have no freaking idea. IT, Med Sci, teaching, commerce, architecture, arts... all are viewed equally for non-standard entry.

Course difficulty is relative - I would absolutely crumple in an arts degree which is seen by many as easier, but would do well in an engineering degree which is stereotypically difficult. If you like IT, try computer science or a bachelor of IT... these are 3 year degrees (meaning that you can apply to post grad med early) with good job prospects

UQ and UMelb have/had them. I think one of those has since scrapped them though. That said, it’s impossible to say today which unis will have what (if any) pre-reqs in 3 years time.

USyd has a 1st year biology prereq edit: for dent, and UQ has 2 second year physiology prereqs... its worth checking out if you can satisfy these in whatever degree you end up picking

Howdy! Here are some questions to consider:

• Where are the universities located?
• What the purpose of doing such degrees in the first place? (that is as a plan B)
• What degree will be more enjoyable for yourself?

Personally, I am in the same position as you are. 2020 graduate looking to sit the UCAT again as a non-standard. From my signature, you can see that I am choosing to do a Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography) @ USYD and rightly so for the following reasons.

• USYD is in my home state.
• It will provide me a stable job as a Diagnostic Radiographer if I was to be unsuccessful with the UCAT and GAMSAT during my years at university.
• It can pave a pathway for me to become a sonographer through a Graduate Diploma.
• I find the science in this course to be quite interesting.

Hello Everyone! I'm thinking of picking a course atm so that i can apply as a non standard. I want something that i can get a high GPA in, whilst also studying for UMAT.
I am thinking about health science deakin/monash. But I have studied business subjects in the past so I was thinking about that as well?

What should I pick between psychology/health science/public health, business or even nutrition?
