Dentistry Entry Discussion and Questions

Does anyone have any previous years stats regarding entry into the UQ DDM program?

I would really like to know where my GAMSAT and graduate GPA sits statistically

Unfortunately we don’t have a record of GAMSAT stats as that was being covered by a different forum that has since closed without leaving an accessible archive.

We attempted to collect stats last year but didn’t really get much traction as we are really primarily known as an undergrad med/dental program forum.

Hi everyone, I recently just graduated from tasmania and decided I want to do dentistry (RA3). I got an ATAR of 96.2 but idk if this would be competitive enough for any dental course. I’ve never sat the UCAT so i’m nervous about that. I am enrolled in biomedical science and Deakin in Geelong but have until next friday to change my mind. Furthermore, I have a really good scholarship tied to biomedical science so idk if it’s worth the risk. If not I plan for high WAM and ucat sit this year, though la trobe was my first preference i’ve heard it’s more competitive. For personal statements and stuff I was gonna talk about growing up with a dad in dental prosthetics and furthermore having to travel an hour and a half for my orthodontist appointments in Tasmania. What’s the best solution here? gap year or no?

Hey there! If dentistry is your dream, taking a gap year to focus on UCAT prep and applying to your preferred courses could be worth it, especially if you’re set on La Trobe or another competitive program.
