Yeah, Gav10 and Sam26, please send me those sample questions!

There are sample questions all over the place here at MSO. Have you had a look yourself?

Hi,
I'm practising answering some questions for Newcastle MMIs, and I can't seem to go beyond 1 and a half minutes for each question, and that's including explaining my reasons and giving personal examples- for example with the question "What motivates you?", I only took about 1 min 5 secs. Is this a problem considering each station is 8 mins? Is it necessary to take 4-6 minutes to answer the average question (as recommended by a certain workshop)?
Thanks

I can (pretty much!) guarantee you won't be asked to talk about what motivates you for 8 minutes straight with no interruptions. There will be an initial question of some kind, and then additional questions that stem from that. They'll either be pre-determined as part of the specific interview station, or they'll logically flow from what you talk about. If there aren't follow up questions specifically, it's probably because you've been asked to respond with several things, not just one. Ie. "tell us X, and then tell us Y, and then tell us how that differs from Z", for example. You'll end up talking for 4-6 minutes per station, but it's a much more natural process than you just standing there giving a speech.

Thank you so much! Very helpful, as always. :)

anybody knows how easy/difficult Adelaide Interviews are?
Also if Adelaide or SA students are more preferred over intersate applicants

I went to a few interviews didn't find any of them easy. For me I struggled the most with Adelaide, possibly because being my first one I was inexperienced but grew more confident with the later ones. But don't lose heart, easy or difficult the interview cohort will be facing the same.

For your 2nd question, UAdel says in an FAQ by law they cannot discriminate in favour of local students.

Am i right in saying that only rural UWA interview offers have come out? as i havent heard of anyone from wa or non rural get an interview offer

I'm in my first year of uni and I didn't receive an interview invite from JCU in the first round. Is it common for first year uni students to be interviewed in the first round and do I have any hope for the second round?
My GPA was 7.00 for semester 1 and it is likely to be the same in sem 2. My written application, trying to be as objective as possible, had a few shortcomings that I picked up on while re-reading it recently, but still was quite good and I thought it showed a range of qualities and experiences they might be looking for.

Hello Narenda,

Thank you for your email.

Applicants for the Direct Pathways will find out if they have been short listed for an interview after the last WACE exam has been completed. Emails are expected to go tomorrow afternoon or first thing on Monday morning.

Good luck with your application.

Kind Regards,

Laura King

so uwa interview offers will be out most likely tomorrow!

Have you confirmed with JCU that they will allow this? Another user has reported seeking to alter their interview slot and being told straight up it was not possible.

if im doing it with someone here manually it should be fine. im not under the JCU body to give me authority to contact the people on the other date to transfer dates but here it is just me and the person who accepted.

“Should be fine” as in, you have written confirmation from JCU that they allow this? I’d imagine anyone agreeing to this swap is going to need some pretty hard evidence that it’s permissable.

A1's comment: Rather not taking up a new post I'll add my comment here. This used to be troublesome when JCU pre-allocated a time slot. Now with booking I think it's a matter of one cancelling/freeing their slot, the other one taking it then vice versa.

Hey guys!!

First of all, Congratulations to everyone who got an interview offer so far, and for those who don't, don't lose hope as there are second round offers (or even third round offers!) to come, :).

Last year I handed out some interview preparation for students to practice with and use as resource and looking back at some of the questions, they were quite archaic and needed some updating to reflect the interview for this year and beyond. That is why this year, I am introducing a newer version of the interview preparation, to help you guys get through the daunting interview preparation. Some of the changes include more modern questions with a small guide as well as some MMI mock questions/cases.

If you want to use the interview preparation material and resources to practice on, just like this post and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

PS BTW I'm on holidays so if you have any questions about the interview process, you can ask me.

Good Luck everyone (I'm sure you'll smash it xx)!

BTW, for Newcastle MMIs, are all questions verbal/acting, or are there any written/typed questions?

Do you mean, do you have to sit down and write out an answer at any of the stations? If so, then there were no stations of this nature when I did the MSA last year.
