General Medicine Entry Discussion and Advice Requests

Hello,
Would anyone know the interview and offer split for UNSW Medicine Round 1 and 2? Would it be easier to get an offer round 1 or 2? Thanks
UNSW's policy is they avoid disadvantaging round-2 applicants.

To achieve that they reserve an ample number of interview spots for round-2 (to result in a lower invite cutoff), and under-offer places to round-1 (to result in lower round-2 offer cutoff).

Those missing out round-1 invite or place offer remain in contention for the round-2 lower cutoffs. So technically speaking it's easier to get round-2 invite or place offer.

Is it also easier to get second round for curtin?

___________
A1 replies: I'm not sure whether Curtin has a no-disadvantage policy like UNSW's.
If Curtin round-2 is mainly for interstate applicants I don't think it'll be easier, sorry to say.

Wouldn't there be a set interstate quota? So local WA students would only compete with other WA students for domestic second round spots and vice versa for interstate students?

I've just looked up the details to know Curtin round-3 for interstate. Round-2 is for applicants whose combined scores based on year 11 ATAR didn't make the interview cutoff but now do based on actual ATAR.

So it depends on how many WA places Curtin has set aside for the round-2 interviewees. If more than enough it'll lower the offer cutoff, or vice versa it'll raise if not enough. Maybe you call Curtin ask them how many places they keep in store for round-2 versus how many interviewees.

I heard Curtin gives out a limited amount of interviews for 2nd round - around 20 or so.
Which leaves the opportunity for unsuccessful applicants who did the December interview to get a place offer in January. But it depends where they stand on the ranked list - it’s quite likely you just missed out on main round given your strong interview performance.

Hi, I my ucat is 2540 and atar is 99.95 with eas. Since my eas was approved late, I didn't get a UNSW December round interview offer but I'm assuming i'll get a round 2 invite.

I was wondering whether I can assume it's highly likely I'll get into UNSW unless I bomb, or is it possible for me to not get in even if I do slightly above average? Obviously i'll try my best, but has anyone heard of people with similar stats getting rejected?

I have accepted a bonded offer from UNE but I'm wondering whether I should wait to enroll in classes in case I get UNSW

UNSW applies a hard cutoff on ATAR and UCAT. It's logical they also have one for the interview.
We don't know where the interview cutoff line is, a reasonable guess is the bottom 20-25%.

Below this hard cutoff you get excluded even when it would combine with ATAR UCAT to a high enough rank for an offer (therefore UNSW's clause of not averaging your three scores).

That said though, a median interview shoud clear this cutoff and combine with 99.95 / 2540 to be well enough for an offer.

You should accept the UNE offer and enroll *if required*. It's simple to withdraw this enrolment if you later get UNSW offer.

Btw after accepting UNE make sure you move it to bottom pref, but don't remove from the UAC application.

Has anyone else had QTAC suddenly change all their preferences to “not satisfied”?

I completed my JCU interview a few weeks ago, which is my first preference. When I checked QTAC a few days ago, it showed “not satisfied,” even though it previously showed that I met the requirements. (Note that QTAC said that JCU and Griffith were both satisfied until then so it has actively changed).

When I looked into the reason, it said I do not meet the minimum ATAR requirement. However, I graduated overseas, and QTAC previously informed me that I had been given an ATAR-equivalent rank of 99.65 based on my school documents.

I will be calling QTAC on Monday, but I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this. Does this mean my application will no longer be considered, even after completing the interview? Is it possible for QTAC to change my rank after it has already been issued?

I'm not sure if it was exactly this situation, but a few years ago I had the same thing happen to me. Basically I'd been rejected and this was how it was written instead of an actual, "you've been rejected" letter. At least in my situation it was anyway.

Oh. But don't offers come out on the 15th? They give you rejections beforehand?

I think with UQ it shows if you have "passed" the interview state on QTAC. This doesnt mean an offer - but it does mean you are eligible for one. Griffths doesnt have an interview so its not relevant
Yep, problem is everything says yes but ATAR which was also previously yes 🥲 JCU and Griffith don't have the interview category though. Hoping they didn't change my selection rank last minute or something 🥲

Guess we won't really know until I ask QTAC directly, so I'll just wait in agony till Monday I suppose 🥲 Application season is not for the faint-hearted lol

chances for undergrad flinders with a 99.95 atar and a 92nd percentile ucat? not an SA local, from NT. im concerned abt my ucat

Being from NT did you apply for the NT pathway part of Flinders provisional?

If you did you should definitely get an offer. A few years ago a non-rural NT got in with like 95.0 ATAR & 70ish %ile UMAT.

Hi everyone, I currently live in Victoria but I moved from NSW and did my HSC there. I got a 99.00 ATAR in HSC, and did my UCAT in 2025 for 2026 entry into Monash medicine, and I got 98th percentile (2480). I already did my interview as well. Is there a good chance I'll be able to get an offer in the later rounds, as I believe I'm still considered an interstate student due to having a HSC result and not a VCE result?
