GPA ATAR Conversion/Equiv Rank by UAC

I don't know, I have a feeling this conversion table is by USyd for USyd (via UAC). Is there any info UAC has adopted it for UNSW & other unis too?

If it's true 1FTE 6.5+ = 99.1 a lot of non-standard applicants to UNSW Med will be toast.
I just paid UAC to rank my qualification to know where I stood after googling this is what I found. I agree with you it doesn't seem right but its how they ranked my qualification with the qualification assessment service. Either way I'm not too concerned considering I am RRMA 5 plus looking like ill have a 6.5+ by the end of the semester just thought id share.

I think there should be further conversions of GPA to UAC rank for 6.5+. It doesn’t seem right to me that a 6.5 and 7 GPA would be given the same rank. Also kinda sucks that you need to pay UAC just to get a conversion rank of your own score.

To be completely fair I think a 99.5 ATAR is very generous for a 6.5 ATAR and I wouldn't expect much higher for a 7... a 7 GPA is not equivalent to a 99.95 and I myself am a non-standard who never got an ATAR. I think if anything a 99.6 maybe for a 7 but even then it is a lot to give a 7 considering how many people have 7 GPAs.

Imo, a 7 GPA is still alot harder to obtain than a 6.5 GPA. I agree that a 99.5 rank is a generous conversion for a 6.5 GPA but I think the table shown on this thread previously has it as a 99.1 for 1 FTE which sounds more reasonable. My point is that there should be a difference in conversion between a 6.5 and 7 GPA. I don’t agree that there should only be a 0.1 rank increase only between a 6.5 and 7 GPA considering a 6 is typically much easier to obtain than maintaining straight 7’s. I’m curious about how the conversions will affect non-standards at UNSW considering they now take the ‘best of’ ATAR/GPA as long as your ATAR satisfies the minimum threshold.

I agree with you, but if that were to be implemented 99.5 for 1 FTE 7.0 GPA would be reasonable and 99.1 for 6.5 FTE would be reasonable IMO your not going to get much higher than that unfortunately.

Very tempted to pay UAC the fee to find out what my rank is so that we can get a clearer picture of what the conversion table looks like.

It isn't what is pictured above (the one I submitted) for UNSW thats for certain unless it has changed this year. Last year non-standards got offers without SCATS and with that table it would have been impossible for them to receive an offer.

I sent them an email inquiring about my GPA selection rank and as expected, they were intentionally vague in their response. Are there really any surprises with Universities keeping applicants in the dark about the selection process?!?!?

It’s actually ludicrous to me that they acknowledge they’ll assess your qualification to calculate your rank as this is obviously necessary to determine who gets an offer BUT if you want to know the result of this course of action they’ve already undertaken, and would surely take them next to no time to pass on, you have to pay over one hundred dollars for it.

I believe each institution has different selection ranks. USyd awards an ATAR equiv. of 99.5 for GPA 6.5+. UWS and ACU have a maximum selection rank of 99 for tertiary students with 1.0 EFTSL that have a 6.5+ GPA.

Hi A1,
I have heard that selection rank requirements for students applying with tertiary studies are actually slightly lower than shown.

Firstly, I do not believe A1 is active in the forums at the current moment their last post was a long time ago even though they have been tagged in numerous threads.

Secondly can you clarify your question are you saying that for UNSW the minimum selection rank is lower for tertiary students when compared with those applying with an ATAR as this is catagorically false.

Damn I miss A1's wisdom :(

I think we can confirm based off today's interview invites that a 7.0 GPA converts to less than a 99.8 ATAR for UNSW's algorithm.
