Griffith Griffith Medicine: Provisional Entry General Discussion

Hi, I was just wondering whether I should be doing Legal and Ethical Principles in Healthcare in Trimester 1 or 3 of my first year ?

Hmm did something change with the Griffith BMedsci course structure? On the uni's website it just says you only need a GPA of 5 for seamless entry into the MD, there isn't a human skills for medicine course pass requirement anymore (or at least I can't see it). The course structure doesn't have the human skills for medicine course either. Did I miss something?

Do it in tri 1.

It’s superfluous to even mention that requirement anyway - you need to pass all your undergrad subjects to progress to the MD.

My QTAC application says I do not satisfy English requirements for Griffith, I'm an NZ student with an ATAR of 99.95 anyone have any clues on what to do?

Did you do a subject equivalent to the English pre-requisite for Griffith (English 4SA according to this: https://www.griffith.edu.au/__data/.../Admission_Pathways_School_Leavers-_-2019.pdf)
I definitely did. The conflicting thing is for UQ Med and Dent it says I'm satisfied for "English, Literature, English and Literature Extension or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 and 4, C)" but for Griffith Med it says i do not satisfy the same listed requirement.
Does that mean that the two universities have different English requirements? (although its listed in the same wording)

Hey everyone,
I got an atar of 99.65. Given the cutoff for GC and Nathan campuses for first round offers was 99.75, what are the chances that it could be lowered to .65 in the second and third rounds?

I would say the chances are low mainly because of NZ students whose results were not considered in the first round who are most likely also eligible with their scores for the 2nd round. People do reject Griffith Medicine but a 0.1 drop is quite a large drop and as NZ students are still to be considered it is most likely not going to drop that much. I would say a drop of 0.05 may occur .

I thought Griffith didn't have second and third rounds and only top ups? Also, If I got a 99.70 ATAR and I'm interstate, do I have a chance to get a top up?

Emailed the admission coordinator.

This is what they said:
"I also note that due to the timing of your results being available to QTAC, your application was not considered in the January 14 offer round. Please be aware that at this stage it is unlikely that we will be making further top up offers for the Bachelor of Medical Science. Our course vacancies through QTAC are updated after each offer round and can be viewed by visiting Course offer dates and vacancy information - QTAC"

Looks like griffith won't be on the table this year :/

Have you got USC on your pref list?

Here's two USC top-up offers received on 14th Feb 2019 with ATAR 99.55. The offer round's cutoff earlier was 99.60 and Admissions also said it was unlikely to have any top ups

Can't be too sure that Griffith isn't possible this year cause in the link you've provided, they mention that although applications are closed "limited offers may be made to existing applicants" so fingers crossed...😅

the first round cutoff for usc was 99.6 based on mso's stats for this year. What is the chance of this dropping to 99.5 for further offers? Is there even a chance more offers would come out?

Unfortunately I doubt it will drop by 0.1 ATAR. In 2019 it only dropped from 99.60 to 99.55 (two top up offers posted on MSO)

Just thought I'd let everyone know here, but the cut-offs for this year for were released!
Griffith (Gold Coast): 99.75
Griffith (Nathan): 99.75
University of Sunshine Coast: 99.60

I was surprised that Nathan and GC had the same cut-off this year!

Here's what I think happened (plz correct me if I am wrong) but I don't think students were able to apply to Griffith Med science through UAC anymore whilst previously, they could apply only to the gold coast campus? I think this because atar profiles for med science were not published on uac. So it means everyone applied through qtac and the main reason gold coast was usually higher is because that was the only campus nsw could choose without paying more money to apply to nathan through qtac. If I'm wrong, then I guess demand for both campuses was just similar this year.

How did you get this info? Was it just from the offer threads on MSO or did you email QTAC?

I just found it on the Griffith website, they’ve updated the course pages now, I’m pretty sure the dentistry cutoff is up there too now. A friend of mine who is also starting med sci this year let me know that it had changed

Here’s the link for reference (Nathan at least):
