Hi, I'm wanting to apply for La Trobe next year for dent! If I'm a first year student at UNSW studying psychology, what WAM should I aim to get to have a shot at getting in? BTW I'm a non-rural interstate applicant and am also eligible for SEAS through VTAC!
Thanks!
90+ WAM is what has been mentioned a couple of times on here, though keep in mind someone with 92 WAM did not get an offer.

Thanks for the response. Do they solely look at WAM or do they also take other things such as volunteering, work experience, etc. into account? Sorry for all the questions, but I wasn't really able to find any information and I'm not too sure how I'll fare doing the GAMSAT in a couple years time...

Only your WAM, so no UCAT, interview, work experience, etc.

Hey, I am unfamiliar with how La Trobe Dentistry's admissions work. I have done one year of uni at UQ and achieved a GPA of 6.875 (UQ does not do WAM scores). Will I have a chance at getting accepted?

You can calculate your WAM yourself, take the average of your final mark for every subject/unit you've studied thus far, and that's your WAM.
e.g Pych101 - 90, Math202 - 80, Chem303 - 75 | WAM: 81.67

_________
A1 adds: Unless willg has obtained these subject marks themself UQ transcript doesn't show them, only the grades HD, D...

I calculated my WAM to be 89. I am a non-standard metro interstate applicant. Does this mean with my current WAM I wouldn't have a chance to get in?

We can't say for sure, but in the past, some have gotten in with a 90 WAM, while some with a 95 WAM didn't.

Have you looked into UQ's dentistry course? You meet the GPA requirement—you just need a good UCAT score. There's no interview, plus they offer double the number of spots for non-standard applicants at around 12.

current Year 12 QLD applicant here, does anyone know how the Chemistry adjustments work for QLD ATAR? i.e. are the adjustments still added to their aggregate like Vic applicants?

I read through this doc
> https://www.qtac.edu.au/wp-content/staticfiles/20210713_Calculating_ATAR_in_QLDv14.pdf

didn't see any specific mention of Chemistry or adjustments.

Qld ATAR aggregate is from your 5 best (after-scaling) subject marks. Chemistry is just one like other subjects.

Vic ATAR aggregate is from English + 3 best subject marks + 10% of 5th best + 10% of 6th best.
So if Chemistry happens to be the 5th best subject 10% of its marks goes into the aggregate, NOT added as adjustment extra.

Hey everyone, in terms of entrance into La Trobe dent, is there smth I'm missing cos it seems like you only need a 96 ATAR(assuming you get 4 selection ranks from both Biology and Chemistry, pushing you to 99.95 selection rank), I haven't seen anything on an interview and according to the website the Median ATAR in 2024 was 95.95. Is there something wrong with the course, like it doesn't give you a proper registration or is there some sort of other criteria that makes it harder to get into? Idk if I'm tweaking cos compared to med it looks like a lot lower entry mark. Any help would be appreciated!!!

You get 4 adjustment factors for doing biology and chemistry not 4 selection ranks. 4 adjustment factors does not equal 4 ATAR points, it's a lot lower. Try out this calculator: ATAR adjustment factors calculator

Also the reason why the median ATAR is only 95.95 is probably because La Trobe dent cohort comprises mostly rural students, who require lower threshold compared to metro applicants. As a metro applicant, you would need 99.90 selection rank.

Hey, does anyone know if I would stand a chance with around 85-86 WAM (1 FTE) with 10 adjustment factors (max allowed for Latrobe Dent) for SEAS? I just saw that they increased the intake of nonstandard students this year so figured I may try my luck. Does anyone have any insights on this?

Worth a shot, honestly. The 10 SEAS points will help, but 85–86 WAM is on the lower end for La Trobe non-standard. That said, if the cohort is smaller or competition drops off, you might sneak in. Since they’ve expanded non-standard spots, you're not out of the game. Just apply and see, you’ve got nothing to lose.

Tsym! If I were to apply, would it be for the January round 2026? I've seen some mentioning of an October round for non-standard entry into La Trobe dent but didn't find anything about it on their website. Does anyone have any idea about this?

Hello
I graduated with a wam of 92 in 2024. I sort of gave up on trying dentistry but from what I’m reading I should give it a shot. I didn’t sit the UCAT or GAMSAT or anything but I heard that people have gone through because of UCAT???
Sorry if these questions are dumb but

Do you think I have a shot?
Did I need the UCAT?
How do I apply? Direct or VTAC?
Whens the deadline?

1. You have a good shot, especially considering LTU's increased non-standard intake quota. However, just want to add that a close friend of mine was accepted last year with a WAM of around 86 after completing a three-year degree, while another person with a WAM of 94—who had only completed their first year of university—didn’t get in.
2. No, you do not need to have sat the UCAT.
3. Application is made through VTAC.
4. Have a look at VTAC's key dates for the 2025-2026 intake.

Hi, I live in an RA2 area in NSW. Not sure if it has been mentioned already, but I was wondering what kind of raw ATAR I would need for a solid chance in getting in through the regional entry scheme (not the aspire program)?

Just logged into my VTAC account to checkout something and for some reason, under ‘My Offers’, it states “you did not receive an offer in this round.”

It’s not even November 18…the date which offers are supposed to come out.

Does La Trobe make offers for dent to non-standard applicants in the November offer round?
