NCEA to ATAR

I have - but tbh I can't afford their MD, or DMD programme - I don't think they have a CSP on it

From my understanding sydney does - but still not too sure there has been talk that they are changing it

No problem. The really cool thing about melbourne is you can choose from lots of degrees for undergrad and go onto MD. Go to following link for more info and the csp part is under benefits Melbourne Chancellors Scholarship (domestic students)

Btw you need to do an MMI at last year of undergrad but it isn't competitive but a pass/fail and you need to maintain I believe a 70WAM. Idk what that even is but have heard its not too hard

You’re not gonna get any definitive answers; but if you get 118E credits you have a really good chance of 99.90+ with your subjects. I have looked around and what stops a lot of people from getting 99.95 is not having Es in english and calc alongside others, since you have both you have a good chance at 99.95. Spanish is weighted the worst I believe out of your classes, so maybe put it last on your list of priority when studying.
I know a kid who missed an E credit from one English external but still managed to get 99.95 last year. However they didn’t make it to USyd med due to poor interview.

But how many E external credits did he get overall?
Also 1 E credit or 1 standard? sorry just a tad bit confused

As I know it was like 105 E credits but am not sure how many externals and internals. If you are applying USyd and UMelb because your UCAT is not high enough, don’t forget to also apply Griffith and USC med.

Ah sorry they got 1 merit from English external and still managed to get 99.95.

Out of curiosity, I just got confused reading few of the replies in the forum.

Do NZ citizens allowed to apply and get CSP places in Australia med schools??

I was just saying about what I’ve seen on this forum, but its probably in their best interest to focus English since it scales well. And with atar conversions we can’t say anything forsure as there are YOY fluctuations with results.

Iirc UMelb Chancellors is only available to Aus/NZ students completing Year12 *in Australia*.

Yes NZ students can get CSP places. The HECS fee is the same around $12k a year.
A difference is Aus students can book this fee to a HECS-HELP student loan. NZ students have to pay from their parents' pocket.

Results for level 3:
Statistics = 16E 4M (2E externals, 1M externals, 2E internals)
Digital Technology = 13E (1E externals, 2E internals)
English = 14A 7E (1E externals, 1A externals, 1E internals, 2A internals)
Biology = 16E (2E externals, 2E internals)
Chemistry = 18E 3M (3E externals, 1E internals, 1M internals)
Physics = 23E (3E externals, 2E internals)
Calculus = 24E (3E externals, 2E internals)

Overall, 117E 7M 14A
I took Calculus, Chemistry, and Physics in 2022.
It gave me an ATAR of 99.90.

If anyone has gone to Australia to study medicine from NZ with NCEA, I would appreciate it if you could please share your experiences! I am confused about the process... Like I heard that NCEA has late results, which could effect med school offers, etc?

Hi! I went to high school in NZ and I’m now in 2nd Year of Med at University of Adelaide. Yes, NCEA releases the results late so you’ll end up missing the first couple rounds. So for highly desired unis, it’s probably a bit harder to get a place. I think because Adelaide did their interviews during the school year, it made it better for me to have a chance to score a place in a way? Feel free to ask me more questions if you’d like and i can answer them to the best of my ability :))

Hi, I am an NZ school leaver this year looking to apply to Aus med schools. I have sat my UCAT and received a score of 3390+628. Since NCEA results do come late, what are the opportunities for first round interview offers based solely on UCAT?

Hi guys, I'm currently a year 12 student in New Zealand (year 11 in Australia) and I am unsure about how NCEA is converted to ATAR. Since we apply to Australian Medical Schools in around September of our final year of school, how do we send in our application with our ATAR if we haven't sat any of the exams for level 3 yet? Do they make a mock ATAR based on solely your current level 3 grades from internals or do they also look at grades from the previous year (level 2)? Hopefully somebody has an idea on how this works. Cheers.
