I'm just wondering, what UCAT percentile as a rural applicant is a 'good shot' for the following programs for an interview and potential offer

UCAT 70+%ile should get you JMP & CSU interviews, non-science degree doesn't matter.

I don't know if doktora got any magic power but they got CSU interview with 47%ile

A possible alternative is you take a gap year to resit two ATAR subjects that you got the lowest marks. If you get 10 extra marks each your ATAR will rise from 91 to ~94. Then apart from JCU/JMP/CSU you'd also be eligible for UQ/CQU, UNSW, Monash, Adelaide, possibly UTas(?).

(But note: Only do this if you are confident of improving your ATAR, otherwise it might not bring any advantage).

Hello! I'm going to commence my 2nd year of Uni this year. Im planning on transferring to UQ and apparently my GPA will reset when I begin studying. I was wondering if this becomes a problem when applying as a non-standard applicant to medicine? Also, there is a possibility that I will not be able to get all my first year credit/units transferred, would this also be another issue for my GPA when applying???

No, as far as I’m aware it doesn’t become an problem. Also, your GPA won’t reset for JCU at a minimum. They use your entire academic record.

JMP use your current degree (at least, that was the case when I was applying in 2017), JPM use whatever’s best out of GPA and ATAR.

I’m not sure what UNSW do.

If I had eas in year 12, does it automatically carry over in UAC if u apply to unsw med after having done one year of uni? My atar was 99.5 but I had EAs meaning it should be 99.95. Does that still apply after one year of uni

Ive applied for medicine @ Uni Adelaide, and have a 6.0 GPA, 2170 UCAT as a non-standard applicant. I thought my interview was pretty decent (although obvsly no way to tell for sure)
I’ve also got special considerations from SATAC (EAS from what I gather, tho I could be wrong).
I understand my GPA is quite low, but is there a chance? I’m trying to plan where to go from here if I’ve got no shot, so any input would be fantastic ))

Unfortunately we don’t have much TT data and, as we understand it, you’re an entry pathway that’s separate to the rest.

I’m not sure if you can only be offered a spot rejected by another TT applicant. If so, I’d imagine chances of subsequent round offers are low because a high majority of applicants for this pathway would be likely to choose it over offers they may receive elsewhere (which is not necessarily the case for school leaver and rural applicants).

Have you finished your degree? If not, your back up can be to continue it, try to improve your GPA, and reapply TT (and non-standard if an interstate move is doable). Then grad med once you’re done.

I’d never be that definite in my advice. And there might be some TT applicants who got, say, a grad entry offer at Flinders that they’d prefer. Or a dent offer.

But it’s also good to be realistic and I’d imagine it’s the pathway with the least amount of movement.

Non-standards are eligible for JCU, UNSW, WSU, JMP (and expensive Bond).
However UNSW is out due to your sub-96 ATAR. It's just UNSW's own rule and SEAS doesn't help.

For JCU you'll need GPA close to 7 to have a chance. WSU requires 6.2+, JMP 4.8+.
You also need UCAT 98+%ile to get JMP interview. WSU is around 92%ile if GWS, 95%ile NSW, 98%ile interstate. It has got very tough.

hi! I'm currently in my second year of BHMS (Adv) at Uni of Adelaide, and im super keen on pursuing medicine. I applied during my first year, with a 2340 UCAT and 6.2 GPA, however, I haven't received any medicine offers.

just wondering if anyone can offer me some advice on what to, or what I can do next to try and get in? any help would be appreciated as I'm a little stuck, thank you.

With my limited knowledge: Your UCAT is quite competitive, try getting it up to 95% and bringing your GPA to 6.5+ (as close to 7 as you can get). Situationally, let us know:
- Is Ade home state?
- Rural?
- Schemes applicable? (e.g. SEAS)
- Which med school are you willing to go to?
- Which ones did you apply for?
- Did you get an interview offer?
- Willingness to take post-grad pathway?
- Do you want to stay in BHMS?

If you got an interview offer, but not a final offer, practice your interview. If you didn't get an interview offer, raise your scores.
If you've got schemes and benefits, apply for those. If you don't...raise your scores and reaser +apply to all med schools.

willing to go anywhere in Australia (prefer adl but anywhere else is fine)

interview offer only for adl
I don't mind post-grad pathway, I just need a bit of guidance on how competitive it truly is

The doors for interstate non-standard are now considerably narrower than before.

You need GPA near 7 for JCU, or UCAT 98%ile (2470 last year) for JMP & WSU.
94%ile (2370 last year) can scrape in UNSW but you need to raise GPA to 6.6+ to have a chance.

Other than trying for Adelaide again I think graduate entry is more realistic. It's a balancing act between GPA and GAMSAT.
GPA 6.2 may be just enough but you'll need near top GAMSAT to compensate. Raising your GPA higher will lessen the GAMSAT requirement.

Im in a similar boat in terms of GPA, and ive calculated that another year at UAdl (BHMS) can bring my GPA up to exactly 6.50, and so im tossing up whether to go the post-grad route, or have another crack at UAdl (and also apply interstate whilst im at it). I’m eligible for SATAC’s “special considerations of disadvantage”, though SATAC are quite vague on how this actually affects admissions criteria.
I am also local, non-rural.

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I’m sitting the GAMSAT in march. I haven’t seen any TT applicants get in with 6.5 @ adl, but I guess we shall see.

I was unsusscessful for the most recent intake (unless I miraculously recieve a late offer) as a Higher Education applicant (local, non-rural); I'm studying BHMS, now 2nd year.

With a year of straight HDs, my GPA will bump up to around 6.5(ish), but I'm still not sure if this is even competitive, in terms of GPA. I haven't really seen anyone with less than ~6.8 recieve an offer (pls correct me if i'm wrong).

At this point, I'm not so concerned with UCAT or interviews as I feel pretty comfortable with both.

WIth that said, what would any of your guys' advice be? Im worried that pouring a year's worth of effort into Adelaide Uni and amy not be worthwhile, if 6.5 isn't competitive enough.
