Good luck if this year is your FYHS

^LOL at your blog (y)

Me and my Thai friend made Maccas runs at 2 am now and then. We surprisingly found heaps of students there often too, lol. Mostly Whites but a gang of Asian guys popped up sometimes.

EDIT: Hey I think I'm a bit too off topic, so can someone please tell me how to access that offtopic button? Thanks

My CHEM191 mark wasn't scaled:

Exit tests = 30/30 = 15%
Terms test = 30/30 = 15%
Final exam = 97/100 = 67.9% (agree that that was a seriously tough exam by the way)

Total = 97.9% = 98%

Final mark on PIMS = 98%

The only one of my marks that I know to have been scaled was BIOC.

Having said that, some scaling did occur in other papers. I just know that it didn't affect any of my marks - for example apparently there was some scaling in PHSI191 but that didn't affect me - I had 100% before and after. Also apparently that was just minor, and around performances far lower than A+.

I loved BIOC, and not just because of Tony. It had the relevance of HUBS but was more interesting (especially module 6 ) and actually required some genuine thinking, rather than just being spoonfed.

yea physics wasnt scaled for me..i guess chem wasnt either.

reason for unis using umat: to look like theyre using several sophisticated selection methods/criteria when theyre really using a shitty substitute for interviews (they cbf interviewing 500 kids as they are lazy)

QTF!

[offtopic]Where are all the fast food places in Dunners, relatively close to uni? I don't eat fast food, but I'm just trying to get an idea of how it's all laid out... [/offtopic]

I've tried a sending email to couple of different (Otago uni) addresses today and I'm getting undelivered errors, do any of you guys know anything about this?

I find it hard to believe more than one mail address is incorrect..

[offtopic] This is fun! Thanks skyglow.

St David Lecture theatre which is where you're having most of your lectures is on Cumberland street. The street running parallel to it is Great King Street. There is a collection of fast food places including Domino's, Hell's Pizza, Macca, KFC and fish and chips on Great King Street just a bit north from St David Lecture theatre.

what?! what about the entire food court on symonds st (near the science dept)? don't tell me its not there anymore! it had indian and kebabs and japanese and chinese

i like chinese food but that chinese place in the food court is really bad so stay away from it ...the japanese and indian are awesome ..good affordable combos

and there's a place called "the loft" on beach rd (very close..just down from the church next to music dept) which has like the greatest food for only $4ish

btw show your student card for free drinks at that subway (assuming the offer is still there)

Some people call this area the Black Hole. Well I do. :lols:

Yes, I like that area..but if you want more 'traditional' shops george street ChikenPie. Hey skyglow..did you like savoury japan, chopsticks, or nesli's turkish kebabs?

[offtopic] Today, a second mountain in the Hutt Valley got burnt and is now black (first one was like 6 years ago) [/offtopic]

George Street is full of foreign cuisine. The kebabs from Nesli and freaking fantastic. As for the sushi shops I think either Savoury Japan or Maki Mono will suffice.

wow you seem to know the campus better than i do . The foodcourt is there, but the med school is in a different campus (grafton campus, opposite to auckland city hospital), its a good 30 minute walk to and from the city campus, so not much of a daily option (not for me at least (n))

Live on Howe Street, its near fast food heaven. Maccas in the city centre is 24 hour and usually has the longest queues at around 2am on Sunday morning.....drunk feed mmmmm

Surely you guys wouldn't have really been going out every weekend and such in HSFY though...?

Just an assumption based on no evidence whatsoever...
