I've just started reading this forum. I'm getting a little afraid...

Many people on this forum seem to be getting really high GPA's like 97.. Which is incredibly good (congrats on that) but is pretty much impossible for me!

In the first semester i got a GPA of 91. I'm pretty sure if i work hard this semester I can pull that up to about 94.

Is it a bad score? I mean for getting into medicine next year.

UMAT's going to be released in a few days... What would be my minimum (roughly)...?

Thank you!! (:

If i were you, i'd go to
https://www.medstudentsonline.com.au/showthread.php?t=4804
and scroll to the bottom and read what greenglacier wrote about potential cut-off scores for Med.

The kind of people who get high GPAs are also the kind of people who use websites like this.

I didn't think that many otago students on MSO had 95+ averages though? I haven't been paying attention though.

Below 25th percentile in s2 AGAIN. Cheers ACER for yet another $300 down the drain and a blow to my self esteem!

Only one year left to improve or I'm out... Eeeek

EDIT: Bad luck to those who didn't get the score they were looking for. Don't give up on your grades! You can still compensate

Maybe referring to past year averages? Man it'd take FOREVER to actually sit down and read this whole thread and the other HSFY thread too.

hey I want to apply with my last years UMAT result, will they just take the percentile I got last year, or scale my mark according to this years results (this seems pretty unlikely)

anyone know?

They will take the mark (NOT percentile) that you got last year and apply the 45/45/10 weighting. UMAT marks are weighted to be consistent from year to year as it is.

'cuz the results are out. And i'll have to do post grad, lol.

If it's an average UMAT, don't be disheartened. Keep working hard, you might still be able to get in. But if you really think it's post grad - really sucks to hear that. Was really was keen for you to get in.

All the best with your finals and congrats with all of your results guys. So many people at my hostel are getting freakin' amazing marks!

Here's my token feelgood UMAT comment for the day:

A friend of a friend of mine improved ~70percentiles from last year. Which I thought was quite an impressive feet.
