ARGH hubs 2011 paper essay question 2...don't know anything about it...did the lecturer go into enough details about the light reflex to answer that essay question?

Yep, what lul said, I just wanted to add... remember that you don't have to know any more than what the lecturer boxed in the lecture! So like Parasympathetic fibres activate pupil constrictors, and Sympathetic fibres activate the pupil dilators. We don't actually need to know the oculomotor nerve and blah blah. :) Just thought I'd put it out there, just in case. LOL.

Hey guys, I'm going through the 2011 paper and I'm wondering with the last essay question is giving both a vaccine and antibody injection the answer?

I said to primarily give a antibody injection and then possibly give a vaccine in case of further injury due to the patients working conditions. The vaccine wouldn't do a lot in the short term I think, where as the antibody would quickly target any tetanus the patient has.

Thanks again Lulwut, goodluck with HUBS tomorrow and everyone else on MSO :)

Hey guys, for the medial lemniscal pathway for sensory information, do the primary sensory neurons travel up the spinal cord through the dorsal horn or the dorsal column? I have it down as dorsal horn but I recall that dorsal horn is where the cell bodies should be? :/

Oh gosh, have I got this all wrong. Wouldn't these be the secondary sensory neurons?! Like the primary goes to the dorsal horn and synapses there to the secondary sensory neuron, which then travels up the dorsal columns?!

Yeah, this. There's interneurons and whatnot, but this ^^ sounds fine for HUBS.

That's actually for the lateral spinothalamic pathway.

That's actually for the lateral spinothalamic pathway.

I thought it was for both, but the lateral spinothalamic pathway just crosses at the midline instead of the midbrain.

He said the dorsal horn not the dorsal root ganglion, though. And from our lecture slides it says 3 neurons in relay, primary to secondary neuron, which crosses the midline, at the medulla.

EDIT: Lecture 30, slide 4

good luck everybody! not long to go guys. not long to go. we have literally just over a week left until we finish first semester HSFY. it may not be much in context of next semester, but seriously, we'll finish enough to take a break from health sci for a few weeks :D I simply cannot wait until the 15th :D

Good luck all :)

Hey guys, sorry about all the questions but I have one more about the 2011 Hubs Final XD
Could anyone explain the first essay question? lol

"Describe and state how bones, soft tissue and muscles (including attachment sites) of the knee contribute to joint stability during heel-strike of the gait cycle"

Start off by thinking about what position the knee is in in this phase, and then think about what stops it from moving in other directions e.g. Collaterals prevent Abduction and adduction, and which muscle holds it in this position? Maybe you want to include its antagonist too.
[OFFTOPIC] BOOYAH!!! #100!!! [/OFFTOPIC]

Pretty much what I did, just separate each thing (muscles, bones etc) and answer like that.
