Can't believe everyone doing MAOR and BSNS have to hang around sooo long! WAH.
Yikes! That's quite a bit further away than last year, when MAOR was on the afternoon of HUBS, and I think BSNS might've been the week after HEAL?

As you guys can see, the 8th paper exams vary widely between years, which is why we generally advise everyone taking an 8th paper not to book flights until they see the actual exam timetable, just in case. Depending on where you're flying (and which airline) it might end up costing more if you had to change flights so you don't miss exams.

I realised that I finish on the 6th of Nov. It is okay to book for a flight to go home on the 7th of Nov?
Yep, that's the idea. (And no, there aren't anything you have to attend after exams.)

I was afraid that we have to stay for interviews or anythings.

Just FYI, Physio and Dent interviews happen before exams, in early October.

At least we have ages to study for MAOR.. Shame there isn't really that much content to study! Oh well, end is in sight woo!

ERMAHGERD this means there's actually a chance I'll pass Maori. Yuck Feah.

Soooo does anyone know how to do the assay questions in the BIOC bet?

[OFFTOPIC]Because paying attention during labs is for chumps[/OFFTOPIC]

Soooo does anyone know how to do the assay questions in the BIOC bet?

There are three questions you could be referring to. One gives you x and y values - simply rise over run will give you the change in A/second. *60 if you need it in change in A/minutes.

The other one with the wall of text - basically ignore everything but the value of tyrosinase and the speed it relates to. Remember that under substrate saturating conditions, the velocity is proportional to the enzyme concentration. So (a made up example..) if a 50microlitre tyrosinase lead to 0.25 change in A/minute, use of 100microlitres of tyrosinase would lead to 0.50 change in A/minute.
Keep an eye on the units as well, they change between minutes and seconds quite a bit.

The last one is actually not all too bad. Keep your eye on the units again, you're simply diluting a solution down from 2.95ml to 3.00ml.

Good luck!

Thanks Shaunasaur the wall of text really put me off :P now time to beat my record of 21 attempts for the 1st BET :)

Hi, has anyone enrolled for the professional programmes? Is there any link? Not sure how to do it.

Erm, by that do you mean "applying for it" on the Health Sciences website, or do you mean "enrolling" with the university for 2013?

Enrolling with the university for 2013 is generally something you do after offers come out and you know which one you're doing. That having been said, there is only two weeks between offers and closing of online registration for enrollment, so closer to the time (after results come out, perhaps), it's advisable to plan a BSc/BBiomedSc in case you need to go for graduate entry, but again you don't need to do online registration until after offers come out.

I'm considering all options and one is applying for Radiation Therapy at the Otago Campus in Wellington. If successful, acceptance must be done by end of November. Does anyone know, is an application for Radiation Therapy likely to have a negative impact on ones application for Med/Dent? and, if one was accepted for RT and accepted the offer at end of November, would that wipe out the Med/Dent application or are they totally separate meaning one might still receive an offer for Med/Dent?....and if I did, could I then accept the Med/Dent offer and withdraw from RT?

A long winded question I know, but you'll know what i mean.....the dates don't all tie in

Thanks

Hey any kind soul able to help her out with her query? And speaking of applications for the professional programmes next year, it seems all the deadlines are pretty tight, especially with the online application one being up in just a little over 2 weeks' time, and then after about another 2 weeks later, (if you get called up,) the (nail-biting, nerve-wracking) interviews (for those going for Dent or Physio), and then shortly afterwards, the Final (pun intended) hurdle>_< [OFFTOPIC]And I guess for most of us HSFYers here, "all we want for Christmas is (getting into) ____ (for 2013)"(insert our desired HS professional course) and everything else, the (other) presents under the Christmas tree, the Turkey, the candies etc. will just not matter much for once and be merely party fodder to be mobilised only upon hearing "the good news" (but of course, if it's otherwise, there'll still be at least a good 3 more days to try to get over it and not let it be a party-pooper).:)[/OFFTOPIC] By the way, 13th February 2013 sure is a very important date indeed (, and I reckon even more so than remembering to give something to that "Special Someone" the following day lol)!:p [box="Reason:"]("Students who fail to attend classes on the start date risk losing their place." Wow, they can't be serious?!:o)[/box]

I don't know that much about MRT but I would say an application for any course wouldn't affect your chances for any HSPro course. I don't think accepting it would matter either, but I'm not sure. I would contact the Health Sci office.

That's their way of saying you can't choose to not go to orientation because it's too early. They're not unreasonable and they're not bent on kicking people out, and if you had a very strong reason they'll excuse you; but basically you can't just say "oh I don't feel like going" or "I've got plane tickets for the 17th".

Ok, I am confused :S, so application -- did you guys have to log into the e-vision thing? Because that's where I did it? :/ And everything else we email to the HS department?

[Random change of topic]
Waiting for EPI is making me really uneasy :/ Going on blackboard and refreshing My Grades 500000 times a second seems to be all I do these days :/
