anyone else pleasantly suprised by their bsns result???
Very much so! Still didn't get a great mark, but covered my worst mark in first sem by far so.. stoked.
Told you so!!! XD You will probably be pleasantly surprised by Heal as well. Don't be scared to check!!!

EDIT: Once all your grades are out, visit the https://www.medstudentsonline.com.au/f115/2012-otago-rank-scores-offers-thread-26950/ to help calculate the cutoff for offers and see how you stand. The more scores that are posted, the more accurate our calculations can be!!! Details for calculating the ranking score are on the page. Please don't get stressed about ranking scores before all your results have come out! It'll only kill your holiday!

Wow, heal out pretty early this year then? Hopefully bioc and hubs will follow suit, although all results out by Friday could be wishful thinking.
Anyone know whether it's possible for results to come out during the weekend?

and what is the likelyhood of people getting in off waiting list?
my average is exactly 81% ...had the interview and thought it went reasonably well :/ im hating this wait for the offers though :/

I dont think you will get in straight away and I rekon you will be put on the waiting list. I think your a gray area to be honest, no way of telling. If you do get in I presume it will be near the start of the semester as was the case for someone I knew this year. Also because seat numbers are so low im sure the cutoff varies each year.

You think this wait is agonising??Its a walk in the park. Try being on the waitinglist itself. I was on the waitinglist in my second year and honestly the worst thing ever especially if you might just get an offer.

hahaha yeah, well then at this rate I'll be going through the waiting list pain too :(
Sorry for all the questions, but your friend you got in near the start of the semester, was their average similar to mine??

kitkat31 the very same average I believe. Hate to say this, but I wouldnt be surprised if the next person on the waitinglists grades was reaaaally close. Also im not convinced if dent school uses GPA (0-9) or % (e.g. 81%) as a cut off for undergraduate entry, GPA is the case for graduate entry. And for more information on GPA plz search MSO, plenty of explanations out there.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this, but oh well.

Do you guys reckon it would be worth submitting a recount application for your worst paper? I was sure that I did better but who knows? Does anyone know of someone who got their mark changed>

Caesar went and got his CHEM paper looked-at, and his mark went from <70 to >70 (so y'know, the difference between 'No med for you' and 'Still in the running'). Uni departments do screw up, so if you really feel there's been a mistake made, there's no harm in having a look.
That said, (with no reference to you) the number of people who simply get lower marks than they were hoping far exceed the number of mistakes made by the uni, so it's far from guaranteed that you'll find anything.
If I were you, I'd ask to view my exam script, and then manually count up the marks, rather than instantly going for a recount (if you're still in/near Dunedin), as it's free, and you're actually there in person to debate things with them if necessary.

VIEW your exam script before going for a recount. It may save you from wasting unnecessary money and give you a chance to actually critically view your exam instead of just relying on a "feeling". You have until the 21st Dec to apply for recount and unless you aren't in Dunedin for summer, you can just email the paper's department and pop down to uni to have a look. Even if you are out of town, email the department and see if they can email you photocopies of your exam script, it shouldn't be too hard for them.

Agreed, best recheck as to err is human after all
I have heard of people having had an A+ recorded as a fail on their transcript O_O
Goodluck! Hope it goes well
