Man...in the new HSFY, there are so many 95+ GPAs going around...

You should've seen the old course...an 85 average was considered good enough to get into med...

Auckland Uni is even worse...

All you hear is A+ left and right, even in papers like pophealth...

omfg!! Are you serious? I was thinking about going to Auckland uni into med. But since ppl pwn the course, it will be definitely hard to get in!!

Don't be swayed by the competition. Remember, an 85 in auckland is the equivalent of a 100; they give you grades only, which is a positive. Some straight A+er's choke in the interview, so that can certainly be a deciding factor...I'm not qualified enough to tell you too much about the Auckland med school system xD

hmm thats not bad! But I heard they grade you and rank you in 4 particular courses in Bsc or medical health in order to apply for med?

Im a current student who is studying in Australia wanting to do medicine in NZ, is it worth the time and effort to study in NZ?

Theres 4 core courses that are common to both the first year of biomed and first year of health sci, that you get ranked on, in terms of GPA. An A+ is 85-100%. To get into medicine you would probably look at at least an 8.5 GPA, which corresponds to 2A+ and 2As. Its not as bad as it sounds, because it makes no difference whether you get 85 or 100, your GPA is still the same. You don't need to be a genius or study all day to get an A+. If you want to trawl through the NZ Requirements thread, that pretty much has everything you would need to know about Auckland Uni med in it.

How did everyone go in UMAT?

I found S1 slightly better than usual, S2 way harder, and S3 way easier..
From what I've heard most people found S2 a bit of a suprise

S1 = alright, apart from time constraints
S2 = newbcakeomgwt*?!!
S3 = easy

Can we try having the study group like once a week, for three weeks straight and see how it goes? That one session we had last semester for HUBS helped me out so much! If we can get a steady turn out every week, it should be really helpful

What d'yiz think?

S1-some were a bit confusing..
S2-i found were quite good
S3-i loved it

I'm keen for some study group.. Especially with epi, I find it's quite hard to grasp what we actually have to know. I won't be able to make this weekend because of our centinneal but other weeks should be sweet

Yeah definitely. I'd be so lost if it weren't for him tutoring HEAL at Aquinas xD

Apparently only 23 ppl got A+ and he was one of them o.O

pro.

That was only in the mid semester test -_- Crapload of luck involved in that horribly written test too. I'm pretty free on tuesdays now. Don't think I could do weekends. I don't really know what you guys need to know because your course this year is so all over the place and I don't have access to your slides :(
