Whoah 15/25 average for HUBS! And since when did they give you detailed feedback on your HUBS tests?!

It was just one of those documents they put on blackboard after every hubs test - the average, and some key areas that people had trouble with. For the first time, they didn't name actual questions in this test feedback though, but it's quite possible to infer specific questions from the data given.

It also says that the average last year was 16/25 - so evidently this test is just a tough one.

What was the question with the plicae circulares? We had the same one last year and I think it caused a bit of confusion.

Really? I thought some of the respiratory and renal physiology was harder than repro. Gotta love Matt Bevin...I also thought Prof. Flemming was by far the best lecturer in HUBS192 with regard to the slides she compiles. As for best speaker, probably Matt Bevin...But once you've done BIOC there is just NO comparison between lecturers. Tony FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yy)(yy)(yy)(yy)(yy)(yy)(yy)(yy)

Haha was she implying that most people doing HSFY arent attractive enough to get a spouse and therefore wont have any children and die alone? thats pretty depressing if thats what she ment... haha

When she showed us the pictures of the male reproductive organs and said "this is the closest some of you will ever get to this", she was referring to lesbians

Oh and is anyone keen on coming up with perfect answers to the heal pre released question with me? I don't have many smart friends here...

Oh by 'here' I was referring to my resedential college, not mso! lol

I wish everything that came out of my heal tutor's mouth were virtually perfect exam answers. AHEM koochkooch

Rural entry into Otago Medicine

Hey there, I've been snooping around for a while, reading all your posts and stuff, but I haven't found anything about entry into medicine at Otago under the rural category. I'm in HSFY at the moment, and my GPA from semester one is 85% (although this is probably going to go down after this semester), and my UMAT is 75%.

I think from this I wouldn't stand much of a chance getting into medicine normally, so I'm pretty much riding on rural. I know you have to write an amazing cover letter, but do you guys know of anyone that got in under this category? What sort of grades did they get?

Good luck for your exams coming up!

Auckland University to Otago University?

Hey guys. I'm a first year biomedical Science student. Just wondering is it possible to move from Auckland University to Otago university to do Health Science for a year then apply for undergraduate entrance for Med? I heard of some people moving from Otago University to Auckland University. Can it work the other way?
Any info would be greatly appreciated
THanks

No.

You are only eligible for entry to medicine through the health sciences first year (HSFY) pathway if, prior to enrolling in HSFY, you have completed at most one year of university study, and have never studied any of the HSFY content at a university level before.

You're still eligable for graduate entry though.
