Congrats SASOL and greenglacier! No offer for me. Was kinda expecting it after my shocking UMAT. Post-grad here I come.

Congrats to all those who have been offered a place in the professional programme(s) you applied for!

To all those who have been waitlisted, there's still hope. I know a number of people have applied for both med/dent. Same applies for a number of graduates who have applied for medicine at both Auckland and Otago.

Keep your chin up! :)

i got into pharmacy! yay!
congratulations to everyone.

so now that i clicked accept, is that all that i have to do?
on the other info for other courses on that info page it said that they have to fill out a registration form and send it back. does everyone have to do that? because pharmacy and some other pages dont say that. =)

Congratulations to bagel, thefamemonster and mohsin!

Feel a bit bad for you gtr8 and koochkooch, but hopefully this is just a minor bump in the road for both of you. From what I've heard from both of you, you will be able to get in eventually if you persevere.

To the new med students, I don't know about you, but to me the information booklet seems a little weird in terms of what is/isn't included. If you want to know about what we'll actually be studying, look here:

https://hedc.otago.ac.nz/magnolia/m...ment/ELM_CurriculumGuide2009_200509_final.pdf

It's a booklet outlining all the content and structure for ELM (years 2 and 3). Even has stuff like sample timetables and overarching objectives for each module!

It was produced for ALM staff so that they can get familiar with the background of their students, but the website isn't locked off or anything so I assume it's fine for us to have a look.

(Yes, I am very keen about this) :p

I haven't been able to sit still all night....I'm so excited!!
Guess its the same for everyone though

Might head into Chch tomorrow to celebrate with some mates, can't wait!

So gutted though for those of you who haven't made it in, keep trying guys you'll get there in the end

Now this would've been useful at the start of this year -_-

How do we register for 2010 study? I clicked MBChB and the MICN201 paper but it wouldn't let me continue Do we do it a different way to what we did this year?

I think so, my offer said this:
Offered a place in 2nd Year Medicine (Rural sub-category)

But I don't know if that means I got in that way or just normal, I assume I got in under rural though

I didn't encounter any huge problems when I did it. From memory it came up with some screen saying "problem: restricted course" or something but I just ignored it. A day later, after admissions and enrolment had had a look, the thing resolved and it now says "awaiting confirmation from admissions committee", which I am more happy with.

So yeah, I don't know the nature of the problem you are having SASOL, but maybe just try ignoring any warnings and pop-up messages. PIMS doesn't know you have been accepted, so MICN201 has to be manually approved by the staff at admissions and enrolment.

Ok cheers for that greenglacier, I got it to work in the end.

It would be interesting to know of the cut offs for those accepted (based on what we know of other peoples results).

So far the lowest I've heard of is my friends grade average of 85% with a UMAT of 33, via rural entry. He couldn't believe it, neither could I, but I'm wondering whether they actually take into account our "why we should be accepted for rural health thing" and possibly ignore bad performances in UMAT (or don't place as much weight on it as they say they do)? Silly I know but I don't know how else he got in (He did do most of high school by correspondence so maybe they feel he was disadvantaged). Unless the rural cohort had extremely poor results this year?

Would be interesting if people could list what the lowest they've heard of is for this year.

Med Orientation sounds awesome, but i guess we won't be able to party too hard in the real O week due to class starting : (

I don't think there's dedicated rural spots, and the rural students compete for those. Instead, if you put yourself down as rural and get they approve that, then I think they add a compensatory increase to your mark, which helps you in your rankings against the non-rural students. How well other rural students did shouldn't have too much of an influence on the chances of getting in via rural.

Hey guys haven't been on in a while. Congrats to everyone who got into their desired course, but also to those who didn't. It's probably been the toughest year we've all had and that deserves recognition itself.

Just wondering how you know if you're on the waiting list.. Do you get another email telling you? My second semester results were a real let-down, although I felt quite confident when walking out of the exams..

Been picking out papers for a BBiomedSc and hoping for a graduate entry into med.

Well done to everyone, hope you're all having a great holiday and Merry Christmas.

If you are on the waiting list it should say "Wait Listed for a place in 2nd Year Medicine" thats when we open our intial email and type in the code. Then we get to choose if we want to accept or decline being on the waiting list. Once you submit you get an email back confirming ie "Wait Listed for a place in 2nd Year Medicine Accept." You dont get another email that is specific to waiting list candidates. Best of luck if you are on the waiting list.
