Wow. Must be quite a few people pulling out of med. Makes you wonder a bit.

That's awesome for you and your mates. Don't suppose you know what their ranking scores were?

Wouldn't a lot of dentistry students for instance put down Med on their application with no intention to take up the offer? It costs nothing to tick it on the application.

I would know of at least 7 people who have turned down med for dent

Woah - 7! I mean, I'd have expected a couple to choose dent over med but not that many.

I suppose the fact that I don't know anyone who was planning to turn down med, and the fact that I'd never consider dent gave me the wrong impression. That's pretty interesting...

Yea, I had a similar mindset to you but I realised after talking to some people that suprisingly? a lot of people weren't prepared to put up with all those years of postgradaute training after you graduate (and then there are also many who are ^_^)
i.e. things like marriage worries, career advancement at the expense of the truly important things (friends, family) were some of the things that were mentioned

I guess it just depends on the person's outlook of what they want to do :)

Yeah kinda interesting, but they never intended to do med. They just chose it to see if they got in. Anyone know how many people roughly go on the waiting list?

Hey was anyone at the lecture it was thrown? Must have been so awkward.

I remember when he came and said sorry to the class and people started to clap when he finished. Shortly after people stopped and I heard them say: "Hey why is everyone clapping? That was a bad deed."

I lol'd so hard, good HSFY memories..

I was in Quad four when it happened. They were streaming the lecture and all of a sudden we see this ball-like figure fall next to the lecturer as if it fell from the ceiling. Following that was a loud THUMP. We had no idea what happened but we heard all the laughter and commotion from the students in St. Davids. Then the camera man panned towards the figure and it was a duck! He then picked it up, took it outside, came back in and just carried on with his lecture.

I would say it's probably a bit faster than that. Definitely not hard to keep up with though. I missed a few words from the sentences and still passed:lols:

To be honest I can't say I'll miss HSFY antics. Lol can't believe I passed when I slept through morning lectures in semester 2, though I was definitely not the only one who did that! Have no idea how I survived semester 1 really. The days were sooooo long. And 4 labs was absolute hell. Especially chem lab. I'm glad med 'apparently' has the least contact hours of all the pro courses. I really want to play rugby or something again, there better be time lol.

No problem dude(y)

It's basically like taking notes from what the lecturer is saying, you probably don't have to get it word for word, just the general gist of what is being said.
Trust me you will be fine!!

But yeah, the link you just posted is probably the speed the guy talked.

Imagine if the declines for med exceeded the number of people on the wait list, that would be weird. Probably unlikely to happen though

Lol. Alright. I'll take your word for not worrying about it ! :)
Though ill probably do one of those dictation exercises every night as ive got 3 weeks before the test and it seriously wouldnt do any harm.. not to mention it takes literally a minute.

Sorry I promise this is the last question I ask about that english test :P
For the first section "listening comprehension" how many questions are there? and we can write while the tape is playing I hear. Are the questions short-answer or MCQ's?.

Ok.. so enough about the english test. Now some questions about HSFY;

- Do labs cover work already done in lectures? Like say I had a lab on thursday would I have been introduced the the work prior through a lecture earlier in the week?
- In your blog you said there are chem exit tests? are these every lab? (also lol @ you fighting your friend doing BCom haha)
- What is the first topic covered in the chemistry paper (or does this change every year and is it a stupid question)

Also, in our school we didnt do the aqueous systems paper in L3 will I be disadvantaged?

Thanks ALOT!
