Apparently the non-rural cutoff was 2510, which is 10 points below the 99th percentile of 2520... So like very high 98th percentile. Unfortunate

What may have happened is that because it's in person, they've put the marginal scores (97th-low 98th) on a waitlist. If lots of people can't make it to the interview they might offer top-up interviews. Just speculation though (?)

Edit: nevermind it seems to be a hard cutoff at 2510, no waitlist

i did just get a rejection email from them "Unfortunately, your UCAT aggregate score was below the cut-point for selection to interview and as such your application cannot be considered further. The non-rural UCAT ANZ cut point for entry 2026 was an aggregate score of 2510." so i dont think they will offer top-up interviews

What was your exact UCAT? If it's not above 2450 it's not borderline and unfortunately you're probably not on the waitlist to receive a top-up if there is one.

I know a couple people with 2500 got rejection emails so it's probably unlikely that there's a waitlist in the end.
There has to be a waitlist I think, I got an invite and this was in the email:

“If you decide not to attend your scheduled session, please contact the JMP as soon as possible in order that your vacated slot may be used to accommodate requests for change. Failure to attend your allocated session will lead to the cancellation of your application.”

That doesn't mean that the vacated spot will be used for another borderline interviewee. "Requests for change" might mean that they can swap interview spots if e.g. an Armidale interviewee wants to switch locations, and someone at Newcastle cancels.

imo they r more likely to overfill the interview like give borderline kids an interview than do top ups, because they can always cut based off the interview instead of needing more people to interview

True, that would be more streamlined. Although the 2510 may be set to accommodate that process already too

OMG this is unbelievable.

98%ile is 2470 to 2510. Cutoff 2510 means they interview only the 99%ile + 1/5th of the 98%ile = 200 non-rural.
Plus say 100 rural (being 30% of the intake), total 300.

JMP used to interview 600-700 each year.

Yes, if this is true then the post-interview odds have jumped up drastically. From a UON friend I heard the post-interview offer rate for metros was like 1/6th. Now odds are 1/2...? (Even higher because many will accept alternate unis) It's pretty clear that all 98ths+ with reasonable ATARs will get multiple interviews and the majority will get offers.

Edit: considering their new local-entry pathway it's unlikely that only 300 people will be interviewed. There seems to be a huge emphasis on central coast locals so this will be a considerable part of the new cohort.
