Assuming a second round interview goes well, would a UCAT of 93 percentile and ATAR of 99.4 put me in a decent chance for a non CSP offer at monash ? I mentioned non CSP as CSP is a big ask.
Estimating offer chances for Monash locals is difficult due to the wide ranges of interviewees' ATAR & UCAT. Some first round may have as low as 97-98 ATAR, some second round 88-90%ile UCAT (if they have like 99.90).

My best guess is Monash interviews around 350 non-DRL locals for 140 places, split into 100 CSP + 40 BMP. So *on average* an interviewee has 100/350= 30% chance for CSP, 140/350= 40% chance for an offer including BMP.

Now judge where your 99.4+93%ile sits relative to the interview cohort. If it's average you have the abovementioned 30-40% chances. If above average you have better than 30-40% chances and vice versa.

Hi, any chances for a Monash 2nd round interview with 2280 UCAT and 99.85 ATAR? VIC/Metro/No adjustments in other states. Monash Calculator says 99.9 based on location. Any chances in any other states?

This MSOer got Monash interview with boosted 99.95 + 80%ile. Then got a place offer and is now a doctor

I can't think of any chances in other states with your 88%ile, other than non-UCAT USC & JCU.

Hi A1, besides waiting until place offer rounds are out to hear the outcome. Is there a way to determine or a clue if one did well enough in an interview at this stage? Besides the FOI request I heard some have done in the past.

I haven't heard of this^ before. I don't think FOI will get you an answer since the unis themselves don't know who get what until 1-2 days before release, since it'll be back & forth to UAC/TAC to sort out the preferences first.

Any FOI in the past would've been after offer release, to look into why they didn't get an offer.

Hi, does Uni Melbourne consider EAS for the Chancellor's scholarship? My ATAR is 99.5, and I received an email from Uni Melbourne a few days ago that they have accepted my EAS application for certain categories.

A1 replies: I don't think UMelb Chancellors 99.90 accepts EAS/SEAS adjustment, unfortunately.
See movpin's reply below for the 2nd part.

Hi A1, with 99.5 atar, 2350 ucat (92 %ile) and being an ACT student, should I be hopeful for any interview offer this year? What should be my next course of action - gap year or uni? Thanks so much for your help!

If you have EAS to bump your ATAR to 99.95 (ATAR cutoff for UNSW is usually .55), then there might be a very slight chance for a UNSW interview offer. Otherwise, I don't see any other options this year unfortunately.

In your case I would start a uni degree and get your GPA to near 7, that way UNSW becomes a great option if UCAT is >93rd. JMP and WSU are still options as well if UCAT goes really well. I would advise against a gap year as if you fail to get into med next year too then you would be back to square one again and no closer to potentially pursuing postgrad med.

The only benefit I see for doing a gap year is being able to apply for Adelaide medicine, but it is still quite hard for interstates as the UCAT cutoff is very high. UNSW as a non-standard would be easier to get an interview for imo.

I am a non standard applicant (first year university), applying for UNSW medicine. I was hoping to use my WAM/GPA for first round interview offers. I called UAC they said the GPA/WAM for trimester 3 will be received on 20th december which is after the first round invites are sent (althought I get my WAM for 3rd trimester on 18th december). Would that mean I wouldn't get a first round interview offer since they don't have my full GPA yet from 1 year equivalent? Thanks!

I would assume so. Bit of a stitch up if they're not allowing students from their own university to be eligible for first round interviews.

Unfortunately during first year your results aren’t available in time so you have to wait until second round. For second year onwards it’s fine though

On paper UNSW says qualified applicants will get 1st round interviews if their ATAR/GPA results are available by mid-December the day 1st round invites are released. The rest wait till 2nd round.

I assume most uni students would have GPA results by that date so should get 1st round, but it didn't happen last year (see explanation below). Virtually no non-standard got a 1st round interview then many got 2nd round, not due to waiting for their GPA.

Last year:
- 1st round ATAR cutoff was 99.55. It was suspected GPA 6.5+ all converted to 99.50 capped so none qualified.
- Several wrote to UNSW that the previous year GPA wasn't capped to 99.50, please reconsider.
- Apparently UNSW corrected this so many 6.5+ got 2nd round. A 6.5 with 98%ile also got one, meaning the hard cutoff may have dropped to 99.50 for 2nd round.
Do you think UNSW will put anything in place to prevent this from happening again (i.e. getting a rejection in first round and then being told later that uni students were under-represented and they’re opening up spots)? Or do you think a similar thing could happen again? Thanks soo much

Hi, I'm currently doing UCAT prep as I want to sit the UCAT in 2026. I have a question about the calculator hotkeys for DM and QR. In the official UCAT preparation website, the button 'p' does the M+ function, 'm' does M- and 'c' does MRC. I was wondering if this works in the actual UCAT test or not, as I don't want to get into a bad habit before the exam.

Wondering what the UNSW threshold was for ucat and atar this time?
Hello, first round UNSW cutoff for interview was a 99.7 ATAR and a 94th percentile UCAT. This was a big increase from last year's 99.55 and 91st percentile UCAT first round cutoff.

Hi A1, I am feeling quite nervous about receiving a medicine offer as I didn't receive interview offers for anywhere but my home state (SA). With a 93rd percentile UCAT and 99.55 ATAR, do you think I have an okay/good chance at Adelaide medicine? I think my interview was okay, not sure if it was anything amazing though.
This^ so much depends on the interview scores the interviewers give you. I'm reluctant to give an estimate coz your self-assessment can be way off. Nothing you can do now to influence so just relax and wait for the offer day.

Is that confirmed info from UNSW or you got it from the posted data on MSO?

I got that cutoff from talking to other people and also by checking the data provided on MSO. Someone was rejected with a 99.6 and 99th percentile ucat on facebook and I've seen people with 93rd percentile UCAT being rejected. I could be incorrect though. UNSW doesn't seem to publish cutoffs, and I don't think we'll see median UCAT and ATAR until the Open Day Medicine Information Evening next year.

A1 adds: It's true UNSW doesn't formally publish the cutoffs right now. But when someone calls asks why they didn't get an invite, the Admissions officer often says oh because the cutoff is such & such. I thought you may have heard from them.

I was looking online, and it seems there are only about 10 places at UNSW for non-standard entry. Does that sound right? What about WSU and JMP, do they have a separate pool for non-standards as well?
