Generally you need 99.50+ and 93ish %ile to get a UNSW interview.
For other schools 96-97%ile (estimated to be around 2370-2400) if you're interstate to them.

If you have sub-96%ile you need 99.85-99.95 for the non-UCAT schools like USC Griffth JCU UMelb USyd Flinders.

Otherwise you need to be in a state with a school that favours local applicants like UQ, WSU/GWS, Monash, Adelaide, UTas, UWA.

I did mine recently and got an unexpected 2170 (unexpected bc I’ve gotten 2200+ for mock B-D). I am gutted, specially at how low my DM is (I was expecting at least a 750 )

VR: 670
DM: 680
QR: 830
SJT: 637

Using last year’s results, this is like 88% (so more like 85% this year). If I get a 99+ ATAR, what are my chances for any medical school in Australia?
I am non-rural (metro) NSW high school students btw.

Would it be possible to get into WSU or UTAS or smth?
How does WSU give out interview offers?

I hope you're well. I’m a Greater Western Sydney applicant and recently received a UCAT weighted score of 704 under the updated 2025 scoring formula (3x vr).
I’ve noticed that in previous years, especially around 2019 to 2021, the GWS cut-offs for WSU Medicine were sometimes in the 690–700 range. I was wondering whether there's any possibility that the cut-off will drop back to that level this year, especially with the removal of Abstract Reasoning potentially affecting scores overall.

I understand it’s ultimately dependent on the applicant pool, but I’d appreciate any insight or past trends that could help me gauge whether there’s still some hope with my score. Thanks

Your WSU weighted 850ish should be plenty over the interstate non-rural cutoff.

Unfortunately I think it's too much to hope the GWS cutoff 760 last year to drop to 700.

Your UCAT is sufficient for most UCAT schools, but also need 99.5+ for UNSW, 99.8+ for Monash.

UAC round 1: 9th Jan, do student receive all the offers or only one of them?

If student receives only one in round, can he/she accept that and wait for other offers in next round via UAC? or doors are closed as student accepted first round offer? I am hearing mixed messages and would like to confirm from experiences s

Lots of nuances in this matter, I can only describe in general.

1. You can only get one offer in each UAC/TAC offer round. If you qualify for multiple places within UAC, UAC (not the med schools) will trim it down to one being your highest pref among them.

2. If you have got pref#1 and make no change to your pref list, you won't get any 2nd-round offer since you already got your top pref.
So after accepting people move the offered one to lowest in the pref list to push up the other prefs, which then leads to the following complications ...

3. Say you qualified but UNSW was at lower pref, now pushed to top pref for 2nd round - UNSW has advised me in writing in this case you WON'T re-get a 2nd-round offer since UNSW considers as you have declined UNSW 1st-round offer (in placing it at lower pref).
i.e. You'd only get UNSW 2nd-round if you had (narrowly) missed out 1st round and now qualify for 2nd-round cutoff.

4. Otoh if UNSW was your top pref and the offer you got is bonded, you want to try for the others in case they are unbonded. Problem is the other schools don't necessarily hold back any spots for a formal 2nd round. Only when they have 1st-round declines, but we don't know how these schools re-allocate the declines (to anyone still wanting or only the ones missing 1st round like UNSW?).

I sat the ucat and got 2280. Is this enough for WA unis (UWA, Curtin, Notre Dame) considering ATAR is 99.5+? Also would this scrape 90th percentile?

A1 replies: My estimate is 2280 should be somewhat higher than 90%ile.
With 99.5+ and assuming you're WA local you should get UWA interview. I'm not sure about Curtin & Notre Dame.

Yes. Although if you switch the two courses for the 2nd round you could still pick up the UNSW unbonded offer then. Not the best situation, but I think UNSW bonded/unbonded is usually already decided by ATAR/UCAT combo, as in people with lower stats have little chance to get unbonded no matter how good their interview is. Whereas JMP bonded/unbonded is dependant solely on interview. If you'd really like to avoid a BMP, consider that when ordering your preferences.

Whereas those missing out on 1st round continue on in the pool to compete against the 2nd-round interviewees for the spots UNSW sets aside for 2nd-round offers (their ATAR+UCAT+Interview combo might be better than the 2nd-round offers cutoff).

If so then combined with 99.90 you should get UNSW interview. Good luck.

(For extra info a 2310 with 99.50, though surviving both ATAR/UCAT hard cutoffs, may not combine to enough for the combo cutoff).

Which of the following UCAT offical mocks do you think is the most similar to the real UCAT exam? I personally find A and B a bite harder while C and D are quite chill.

Could anyone who sat the UCAT exam let me know roughly the difficulty?

Not sure if this is true anymore. I know a few people who got WSU first round (1st pref) then switched prefs to get UNSW 2nd round for 2025 entry.
