Hi, my daughter did UCAT this year, her scores are:
VR 610
DM 590
QR 730
STJ 645
Overall 1930

ATAR predicted around 92-93
She is Rural student from the Kimberly Western Australia (MM7 - very remote)

Does anyone know whether she has chance at any uni in Australia for med? If so where would she have a better chance? Thank you!

___________
A1 replies: I estimate UCAT 1930 is around 50%ile. Iirc some sub-50%ile have got interviews from JMP and WSU/CSU. Apply to all the schools anyway.
Being MM7 her best chances are probably with JCU who strongly favours remote-area students. Best of luck.

Speaking for WA since I am from Perth her options in-state include UWA, Curtin and Notre Dame Fremantle which has assured pathway to medicine (as of last year). All of these schools have a rural quota - iirc Notre Dame has 10 places reserved for rural entry.

hello i did my ucat and got 2460 vr: 750, dm: 810, qr: 900, local nsw applicant, non-gws, non-rural, dont have predicted atar yet but according to past performance shd be around 99.5+, what are my chances for both nsw and interstate? thanks! also what percentile would this roughly be?

___________
A1 replies: You're non-rural non-GWS NSW, should be able to work it out from my post immediately above then you can ask specific questions if anything unclear.
I'm hoping your 2460 will make 98%ile for interstate UQ, true or not will have to wait see.
Thanks A1 . It looks like I might have a chance with just Monash with WSU being hit and miss as I am short of the target.

___________
A1 replies: Not "just Monash", you'll almost certainly get interviews from JMP & Adelaide, and UNSW if 99.50+.
Monash is actually less of a chance than these schools due to your "only" 99.5+. Also try for Notre Dame & Curtin.

Thank you, A1. Do you think Notre Dame or JMP interview is possible? Do NSW unis give preference to NSW/ACT students, like other states prefer their state students?\

___________
A1 replies: I'm not conversant with Notre Dame's selection so I have avoided mentioning it, but ND does look like a possibilty for you.
The only NSW school with local preference is WSU for GWS & NSW applicants, unfortunately that doesn't include ACT.
That's sad, but thank you! Sorry if this sounds dumb, but I have recently moved to Australia, so trying to understand - Is it all based on past results that all the other universities such as Monash, favor local over interstate? On their website, they make no formal mention of this.

___________
A1 replies: WSU says on its website the interview spots are divided into 50% GWS, 30% NSW, 20% interstate.
UQ & Adelaide have also said like 50% for Qld/SA, 50% for interstate.
The rest (Monash, UTas, UWA) are known largely through verified data posted on MSO, that there are huge gaps between cutoffs for local vs interstate.

hi guys
i got 2420
vr:730
dm:810
qr:880

what do you think are my chances for an interview in all aus unis (nsw preferrably) ? i really want unsw or wsu but i think the latter might be out of reach(?)

Do all admission centers provide multiple offer rounds or only UAC?

___________
A1 replies: All TACs have multiple offer rounds, what matters to us is which and how many of these the med schools participate in.
UNSW JMP Monash Adelaide UWA/Curtin hold two interview rounds, they necessarily do two offer rounds one for each.
JCU holds two interview rounds but both *before* the mid-January offers, so only this one formal offer round.
The schools with one interview round only need one offer round (no reason to hold back any offers). But they do send out more offers later from the declines they receive.

Hii, just wondering about my chances this year for non-standard, non-rural NSW

UCAT 2280 (680 VR, 720 DM, 880 QR)
GPA 6.7/7, WAM ~85

I am aware that my UCAT is not enough for WSU or JMP, but is there a chance at an UNSW interview? My ATAR was 98.75 so is past the 96 cutoff. Not sure if this has already been answered but I was also wondering what a competitive GPA is and if I need to do anything in terms of sending my GPA to universities when applying or is this automatic? Thank you in advance!!

___________
A1 replies: It's a two-part answer
1. Last year no non-standard applicant got a UNSW interview invite in the 1st round. Reasons believed to be the ATAR hard cutoff was 99.55 while there's a conversion table showing 6.5+ is capped to 99.50 i.e. even GPA 7 didn't survive this cutoff.
Many then got 2nd round invites though. Either the cutoff dropped to 99.50 or UNSW allowed 6.5+ not be capped to 99.50, or both.
I don't know which situation your 6.7 will fall into this year.
2. Hopefully UCAT 2280 will be 92-93%ile to survive the UCAT cutoff. If you make both cutoffs UNSW interview is possible.

In the UAC application you indicate your Uni Student ID, from which UAC will access your uni records directly for the GPA.

Aiming for WSU and Newcastle, what are my chances? I am a GWS applicant.

Does anyone know if WSU/CSU actually has a SJT threshold?

___________
A1 replies: Yes, in one Information video the lecturer presenter said WSU would apply an SJT threshold.
The lowest seen on MSO was a member who got an interview then a place offer with 520 (about 25th SJT %ile).

My son recently received his UCAT result.
VR 770
DM 720
QR 750
total: 2240
QLD, rural (MM2, RA3)

What are his chances of getting an interview, also interested in interstate opportunities.
UQ expects 5 adjustment points.

Atar 95-96 (predicted)
Thank you and good luck!

___________
A1 replies: Rural 2240 will get interviews everywhere. Apply to all the schools he can reasonably move to.

Hi I got a score of 2270
770 VR
720 DM
780 QR

I'm a non-standard GWS applicant with an atar of 98.45 and WAM of 80+ (will try to bring it up to 85+ by end of year). Was wondering how my chances were looking for Medical and Dental schools around Australia? Should I prepare for interviews or is that too far fetched.

___________
A1 replies: Your UCAT & 770VR should be enough for GWS interview.
If your WAM gives GPA 6.5+ UNSW is possible. (Note that for Med admissions UAC & UNSW work on GPA not WAM).
UCAT unlikely enough for JMP. I don't know about Dent schools, hope someone will help.

Hello, I got 730 VR, 750 DM, 750 QR (2230 total), 607 SJT. I am a non standard, interstate applicant who wants to apply to UNSW. My ATAR is 99.95. Would my UCAT score be enough to get an interview offer?

___________
A1 replies: Unfortunately I feel 2230 is a little low to survive the UNSW's UCAT hard cutoff.
(Hard cutoff relates to UNSW cutting out the low ATARs and low UCATs first, before selection).
If it does survive this cutoff, thanks to combining with your 99.95 UNSW interview is possible.
I'm curious why you didn't apply for a Griffith place last year but went non-standard instead?

With 2350 UCAT and ATAR in the low 99s, what should be my backup options? Would you advise taking a gap year or uni? Many thanks for answering all of our questions!

___________
A1 replies: If you start uni & go non-standard, with a high UCAT you'd be eligible for JMP, WSU, UNSW (if GPA 6.5+), JCU (if GPA near 7).
If you take a gap year, (leaving UNSW/JCU/Monash aside due to low 99s) you'd be eligible for same JMP, WSU, plus Adelaide, and UWA if 99%ile.
I don't think it's worth trading UNSW for Adelaide to do a gap year.

My brother is a non-standard applicant, 2260 UCAT and 99.95 ATAR, NSW.

I understand that all the other non-standards unis are out of the equation, but how likely is a UNSW interview? Is there any known percentile cut-off for UNSW?

___________
A1 replies: See my reply in this post (your brother's 2260 has a little better chance than the 2230)

Another 99.95 gone non-standard, didn't he apply for Griffith or USC last year?

Hi, I gave my ucat and got a 2240 (600VR, 740DM, 900QR). I know this won't be enough for a nonstandard 6.75gpa applicant. I just wanted to ask, which universities have preferences for internal transfer applicants. like University of adelaide is 84th%tile for internal transfer. are there more like this? Thanks

___________
A1 replies: Afaik UNSW, Adelaide, Curtin have Med internal transfer. CSU has Dent internal transfer.

Hi, I took my UCAT and got a score of 2300 + 672 SJT
720 VR
680 DM
900 QR
Which unis would I be able to apply to for med/dent? I'm in my first yr at uni in NSW, so I would be non-standard entry. Thanks

___________
A1 replies: Unfortunately your UCAT & VR doesn't look enough for JMP or WSU (if non-GWS).
Let's hope for UNSW if you get GPA 6.5+.
I don't know about Dent schools, hope someone will help.

Do non-standards go in the same pool as school-leavers, or are there limited seats for them?

___________
A1 replies: JCU has a separate pool with 15-20 places for non-standards. The other schools UNSW, WSU, JMP, all in the same pool.
Btw despite not looking optimistic you should still submit 2-3 TAC applications (UAC, QTAC, SATAC, TISC for Curtin) this year because sometimes the schools change their selection criteria without us knowing. Best of luck.
